  • I'm about 200m back from the sea and about 10m higher. Now's a good time to start building a jetty.

Same people who have a pool right next to the ocean.

      • They all want to blame local government for not building walls. Build your own wall I say. Erosion of the coastline has been a constant since the year dot.

Funnily enough building walls just increass erosion elsewhere. But they won't care as long as it keeps the price of their waterfront mansions high.

(Erosion usually increases either side of the wall until the waves get round the back and continue eroding behind it. )

it is everyone's fault not theirs. Someone needs to build the wall for us.
cannot believe the way they expect the government or council to foot the bill
look at the reports from Picton just up the road from me the businesses in the main street were all under water.
I did not see one report where they where blaming the government or local council.

                • Their rates bills will sky rocket because of all the work that needs to be done. When the council were repairing major beach erosion on the Gold Coast over and over a while back the home owners on the dunes paid for it in the end. The excavators working on the beach for months on end wouldn't have been cheap. It seems everybody but them know it's not a good idea to live there.

Plus imagine the cleaning required from the constant salt spray on the glass doors and windows. I like cleaning but not that much.

If you can afford beachfront houses in Sydney, you can afford a cleaner...

Dave - just wait until they introduce another "flood levy" like they did back in 2012 for QLD, we all might be paying for that new wall for NSW, we got a new children's hospital and AFL stadium to pay for here over in WA yet.....

Wasn't that flood levy because QLD Gvt., in its wisdom, hadn't taken out insurance on its infrastructure unlike the other states? Perhaps we should have a temporary wage levy on politicians to ensure they don't make daft decisions?

That would be an expensive levy. Would be cheaper to let the country go boroke
