  • New TV show - Pat Callinan's 4x4 Adventures

This new 1/2 hour show is on this Saturday at midday (sydney time) on Channel 10.

I think they were sponsored by KIA or Hyundai... cannot remember which, so those are the vehicles they used but might be OK viewing.

They are not Prados, I know, so might be a bit of a laugh!!

A cameraman friend of mine filmed the 13 part series, with the first episode set in the Kimberley.

Anyway might be worth a look...

Oh, One more thing... Pat Callinan used to be editor of 4x4 monthly.

Thats funny if he is driving a KIA, unless it was a rock hopper he use to hang sh#t on it when he was at 4x4 monthly. 12pm in Brissie.

According to the latest 4x4 Action DVD, he sold Otis as well. I don't think you'll find a more capable 2nd hand vehicle anywhere!

      Cheers,

He sold Otis probably 12months ago. And yeah they are driving Kia's around. I'm sure if they had any problems with them they would edit the drama out of the show.

Just watched the first episode. Seemed alright. More like a travel show than a 4WD show. Will wait till I've seen a couple more before making up my mind.

It's on in SA at the moment... so far feels like a long line of product ad's...

It's got that 4x4 Monthly video feel about it.

It might do ok as it's the only free to air show of it's kind over here.

Didn't do much for me, just another travel show.

Someone forgot to tape it while I was at work
Maybe I'll catch it next week.

Couldn't see anywhere on his site to watch an episode

Yeah I saw this program. I agree that it was really nothing more than a series of product ads. Not much included about driving through certain terrain types and how to handle certain situations. Some nice scenery though and is probably a good family show. Also gave some good ideas about places to visit.

Thought the show was pretty good compared to Top Gear Australia and the 4x4 Monthly DVDs.

                      Photography looked good.

As for vehicles they have to be sponsored by someone.

                      Happy to keep watching.

if you go on the website, the main sponsors are Kia, ARB and BFG.

                          Gotta agree with Stan.

The show seemed ok and Pat is made for TV and holiday show type presenting. I think the 4x4 Monthly DVD's went downhill quickly once he left. The are nothing more than a 1 hour advert now.

I worked on the 4x4 Monthly DVD "Simpson Desert" with they guy who shot this current TV series.

When you pay for good camera operators you get a better product. Im referring to some of the comments here about the "photography".

I suspect the DVDs went a bit more low budget after the first few.

                              Totally agree....

The High Country, Coffs Coast and Simpson DVD's where probably the best. The first 5 or 6 DVD where great very informative and lots of tips.

The monthly DVD's now are nothing short of ordinary ordinary.
