Re: Show Us Your Home Town Photos

Well, I guess I can show some of my home town.

I'm originally from San Diego California, but after college moved to Baltimore, MD. We are about 30 miles North East of Washing DC on the East coast of the US.

We have an area called the 'Inner harbor' where there is a mall, many restaurants, and specialty shops. This picture is taken from atop Federal Hill. It is an earthen fort made during the US Civil War. Even though Maryland was a southern state it was close to the Northern capitol. this fort was built up with many cannons, so if there were any uprisings the Northern troops would level the Southern city. Now it is a nice vantage point to see most of the city.

The National Aquarium (it actually has a multi million dollar wing and exhibit called 'The Australian Outback; Wild Extreme'). The lightship 'Chesapeake', and WW II Submarine 'Torsk' is in front.

The Washington Monument in Mount Vernon. It's not the famous Washington Monument, but it was the first to him).

Fort McHenry. This is a fort was bombarded during the war of 1812 (second war with the British). Francis Scott Key was a prisoner aboard a British ship and after it was over the US troops raised a large flag. This inspired him to write a poem called 'The Star Spangled Banner' that later became out national anthem (ironically to the tune of a British drinking song).

Also Drum Point Light House is in the Inner Harbor.

It's a nice city. Hope you get to see it someday.

          -Ben
"Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia" (Charles Schultz)

I have a 2007 FJ Cruiser (An American knock-off 120) Considerably built up.

I am also a Founding Father of the FJ Bruisers, FJ Cruiser club, in Washington D.C.

This is where I grew up, the family is still in the area, I get back occassionally.
It was a hard life living that close to an awesome surf beach.
I agree with a comment made in another thread, it's is New Zealand's version of the Gold Coast.

This is where we live now, or near to it.

It's a nice spot for the kids and kayaks to play, plenty of dolphins around, unfortunately the occasional shark too, but hey they need to live as well.
