New towing hitch

I am looking at buying this hitch for towing the caravan has anyone out there used this hitch or heard anything about them.When turned upside down and useing a low pin point to me there would be a huge amount of pressure pushing on it.what do others think ???

It seems like an expensive way to set your tow ball height, however, I don't see why it isn't a good solution. The sheer force is carried by a pin that is sideways and about 75 mm to 100 mm long, therefore, the load that it could take would be very high. The company would be able to supply that information I am sure.

The bar comes in 2 models one that will adjust 3 1/2 inches and the other with 5 1/4 inches Price is $391 to the door for the longer one but they dont quote different prices so they must be the same
I thought the price was a lot better than going the hayman reece hitch they are over $500
Is there a cheaper one around ???

I bought the fixed 150mm tongue (bottom of page) for the work troopy a couple of years ago, it had been lifted and we were regularly towing a tandem Generator (about 1.5t). We have since replaced the Troopy and have transfered the tongue to the new one. Still as good as new, no problems at all with it and levelled the trailer nicely. From memory was only just over the $100 mark.

They are a good hitch and will handle a huge load. I was one of their first distributors in Qld and have been using the product for4 years. i have the one with the 50mm ball and the 70mm ball and have had 4.5T behind my vehicle using the rapid hitch i also have the 100mm fixed on my prado now and used it with the Hyland coupling on my recent trip up the cape.

If you are using a Hyland hitch it won't work with the Rapid hitch as the ball sits flush with the top of the housing and you need the lip that you get when you use a standard ball into a fixed toungue to allow the hyland coupling to work. It will work with all other couplings though. That is why i also rund the fixed hitchs as well.

They are great if you need to adjust the height all the time. If you just need the one height then go for the 50mm, 100mm or 150mm drop it will save you a few dollars.

They are sold in various configurations in the US and are built to US military specs which exceed the Australian ADR's.

I forgot to mention that you can't fit load leveling bars to this hitch like the hayman reese ones, it is purley designed to allow you to quickly raise and lower the ball height.

i do need to change from carvan to bike trailer and the bike trailer has a lower height so the quick adjust will be the better option

I don't know what those hitches are worth but if you are only wanting to have the option for high and low it is probably cheaper to have two standard hitches with towballs, one mounted with the flange high and the other low. Just swap out the whole hitch to change trailer for trailer. Cannot see the point in multi height adjustment once you know where the trailers need to be. On the other hand nothing wrong with the bike trailer drawbar pointing up a little since they don't weigh much. The caravan on the other hand needs to be set up correctly. It is however your $.
