Re: Have you ever seen something like a big cat in the bush?

    Hi all,
When I was into building bench rest rifles many moons ago, when owning firearms was not frowned upon by the politically correct wan*##s who have never lived in the bush, I used to stalk huge feral cats and foxes on my mates properties in Western Victoria. They were on many occasions the size of large dogs and would skin out to a hide the size of a decent roo skin. Many victorian graziers around my old area were plagued with these cats and foxes killing lambs and native wildlife, they probably still are a huge problem today.

Re: Have you ever seen something like a big cat in the bush?

Off topic but this is a ghost storey.....kinda.

Grew up in a old, but small town in the Brisbane Valley. In one of the back paddocks, not too far from home, but far enough for some privacy, was a small grove of very old trees, they must have been decades old maybe, even over a centry.
However there is ghost stoery of the area due to a aboriginal girl hanging herself after being raped by some white fella's.

So There I was, with a lovely girl, and we were getting to know each other very well  in this very private area when I felt a MASSIVE pain in the left butt cheek. Within seconds a huge welt that looked like a wasp sting but bigger appeared n my bum. After a good look around, and the lovely lass, a few jokes about the "Ghost", and not to be detered, we got back to the important business at hand (So to speak).
Just as my attention was being diverted towards more satisfying ends when.....WACK. Another huge pain and accompaning welt on my bum.
By now the girl I was with was starting to freak out as the ghost stories really set in and, despite my reassurances (Some may call it beggin, but I was only 16 at the time). we got out of there.

Fast forward a number of years and somehow ghost stories were being told at my bucks night, around the camp fire so I piped up with the above storey for the boys.
Suddenly my brother starts to laugh and ends up in hysterics, unable to stop himself,,, darn right nearly wetting himself.
Between gasps for air and amidst bursts of laughter, he says that he saw my girly at the time and myself heading off down the paddock and guessing what we had planned grabbed the air rifle, and from the saftey of a tree, shot me in the arse.
Twice. Said it would have been three times but he missed me as I did the runner.

I've been married for eight years now, and still haven't come up with suitable paybacks yet. ops:
But it will be good when it comes

Re: Have you ever seen something like a big cat in the bush?

My old man and uncle told me that back in 60's they shot at and missed a black cat sitting on a stump when fox hunting near San Remo (near Phillip Island in Victoria). Dad thought it was a feral cat sitting on a small stump but on closer inspection had misjudged distance as was actually a large stump and he reckons it was panther size based on tracks that were as "big as his hand".

There are stories about a Wonthaggi Monster haunting this area. Could be an ancestor of Black Prado Chick's Loch Sport sighting as not too far away!!

I fish Lake Windamere (close to Mudgee) a few times a year and last time around met up with the couple who filmed the black panther that was on. This was brought up by their family friends whilst we were around the camp fire sharing stories.
