  • WARNING Keep Your Prado Safe

    Hi All,
Last week one of the bosses here at work had his spare wheel knocked off from the car in his driveway. When he reported it to the cops they said it was one of about 30 in that month (don't know if they were all Prados)
Last night he had his entire front bumper assembly taken from the car in his driveway. Apparently they just cut the driving/fog lights wiring.
It was a black Grande 120 series.
If it wasn't such a mongrel act it would be funny.

This happened in the Sutherland Shire in Sydney.

    Get out the shotguns boys.

Re: WARNING Keep Your Prado Safe

That's not good news, particularly as I live in the Shire and my wife takes my car to work on the weekends and sometimes does a night shift mid week.
Looks like I'll be putting an end to that caper.
Hope that someone catches them in the act and does a bit of Balmain Folk Dancing on their heads

Why would anyone pinch a front bumper of all things........you can pick them up for free at most 4X4 outlets?

I thought the same thing, maybe the guy has made an enemy somewhere and this is their way at getting back at them.

Re: WARNING Keep Your Prado Safe

Yup, well, 2 nights ago I had both headlight protectors knocked off and they tried to get my bonnet protector but broke it instead. I'm thankful they didn't do any actual damage otherwise. We've just moved to a property in Melbourne on 17 acres of bush in the middle of suburbia. It's an old camp (we're in the caretakers house) and hasn't seen anyone use the property for a good 7 years. The owners were getting a bit of vandalism so wanted someone in the place to create a presence. Appears the P....s didn't want presence here. I've since found a decent secure double garage shed I can lock the Prado in but it takes about 5 mins. to get into with all the padlocks I needed to make it secure. At least i should probably hear something before they get to it again!

Anyway...Yeah, keep your Prado safe. I didn't suffer a huge theft but it still gives you a rotten feeling for a few days.
                Cheers - Phil Taylor

Re: WARNING Keep Your Prado Safe

                  That isn't good.

Why buy anything when you can get it for free. I'd like to park a Prado right there and fit it out with tracking devices. The person who perfects security tracking devices is going to make a heck of a lot of money. Geez they must have made a bit of noise getting the sovereign off though?? Here in Perth I hear more and more stories where the police have stated they simply don't have the time or the manpower to attend simple burglary scenes. Even when it's a clear case of one particular street being targeted over a few nights. It's one of the reasons why the council I work for has started up it's own security patrols, the ratepayers said they just didn't feel safe at night anymore, even in their own homes.

I hope the Fragwits that did it are caught and strung up for a public flogging! I hate it when hard working people are ripped off like this!

I bet the police would find the manpower when a poor old criminal is in distress :x :x

Ahhh the return of the Trunk Monkey! Frikking gold that is!

I don't have it in for the Police. In many cases I think politics gets in the way far too much and they are hamstrung in what they can do. Someone goes on the wrong side of the road and they have to abort the chase. I also heard that they cannot give chase up gravel roads. Does anyone know if that's true? The Police need more manpower. Who'd be a policeman though when the pay is mediocre and you can be shot at and attacked with signposts by iced up whack jobs. They need to be involved less in domestic disputes and more with crime. It's a difficult problem but really boils down to the fact that there just isn't enough people to deal with all society's problems. Crims get off far too lightly too in my opinion. If someone rips off my bullbar that I busted my buns to pay for there has to be consequences. Not just "Oi... don't do that again"..........

Do you know if he had the lock on the spare wheel when it was stolen?

I've been wondering how much of a deterrent the locks would actually be to thieving sh!ts and how hard that they would actually be to get around.

Apparently yes. He seems to think it was smashed off but I would have thought that would make a bit of noise
