I'm thinking through the kitchen setup for my camper trailer. What camp stoves can and can't you use on a total fire ban day?

Good question... I believe it varies between States (as do most things). I understood that most would allow you to use cooking devices provided that they didn't use solid fuel (ie wood) and were fully contained along with a fire break around the said device in case of an accident!

Best you double-check for your specific State... Google will find the answer under each Fire Authority website.

Reading that document, you can only use it INSIDE a CARAVAN.

We have the same cooker, been using it for years. Very handy having three burners some times, or even space for two big pots.

Ours was getting blocked regularly, until i took out the tiny stainless steel gauze filters in each jet :roll:

The plastic handles are crap, and have been replaced with some steel rod drilled out and pop riveted to the control valves.

I have also added piezo igniters to each burner so we don't have to play with matches.

The old Trangia has been reliable and fail safe, but i would LOVE a multi fuel MSR stove for the times when we want to go lightweight, so much quicker.

Just seen a similar style as the 2-3 burner stoves but with the grill underneath. Has anyone tried these? Seems like a good good thing if it works!

After using a Coleman gas 2 burner for many years ( which was very good BTW ) we have gone totally away from carrying gas bottles in the car.
All we carry now is two of the Coleman mini dual fuel stoves as pictured below. They put out way more heat than the gas canister ones - they really roar.
A lot of people hate these stoves because of the initial pumping required but it only takes a bit of practice. I bet I could have this unpacked, pumped, going and boiled a billy of water way quicker than someone with a gas canister one.
We recently spent 3 months touring using just these two little stoves for all our cooking and it was not a problem.



These will actually fit inside a billy for transportation so it is a very compact cooking setup. You need to look around for the stainless steel billies they will fit inside - Ray's have them.

I like the fact because they're seperate, I can spread the stoves around to suit whatever I'm cooking. If we're only stopping by the side of the road for a cuppa we only need to unpack one. The only issue is it is a little hard to balance big pots etc on them sometimes, but with care we've never had a disaster.
They run on Shellite or unleaded petrol but I only use Shellite unless desperate. Shellite is available in most big towns.

They do require a bit of maintenance like oiling the pump every now and then. I carry a spare pump.

HI ALL.Iam using a JACKAROO camp stove with oven underneath works a treat.Ovens not a toy either, great around beer o,clock when you want to heat up some nibblies.Only trouble is friends are starting to bring stuff to heat up garlic bread saugage rolls etc where luckly trying to cook our own dinner :lol:Also use butane single burners they boil faster.Wife and friends love it :lol: made a bracket witch holds the unit right side of swinging kitchen door witch keeps it all the same height.First saw it years ago when we were looking for stuff to fit out camper wife want me noooooooh any way they came on special last year so I bought one $100 off. Ditched the stove and just take the webber baby Q does everything as i got an additional hot plate for it
