TRD Australia closing

I hear Toyota's TRD factory in Melbourne is closing. No more supercharged Hilux's or Aurion's.

Toyota only sold 888 of the two makes, in TRD form, in total over 18 months and the division has been running at a loss.

I guess that means no factory supercharged Prado in the near future?? :roll:

I never really did understand a supercharged petrol Hilux appealing to the masses :? I would love one as a toy though :mrgreen:

Oh and the Aurion TRD, just buy a XR6 Turbo or an F6 Typhoon.

Must be a bastard to drive too, I had a Aurion hire car in standard trim (200kw) and it was a torque steering monster... put the boot in and it would just about change lanes... not what I expected from a modern fwd car.

XR6 Turbo

Gotta agree with that.... XR6s are a performance bargain.. best bang for your buck on the market at the moment.

I also recently spent a day in a VE SS Commodore, 6 speed manual, 6 liter, 270kw motor... had a ball with it, they handle like their on rails. Pity about Holdens qerky design issues... whats with that hand brake design? and a pedal box almost impossible to heal and toe with unless you have a size 20 boot (accelerator pedal two inchs to low)
