      Re: 2009 Dakar

Looks like number 456 could use some sponsorship, better send him a Pradopoint sticker!

Looks like it should be a good rally, there's certainly going to be some interesting terrain covered and it looks as though the Touregs might have the better of the "Lancers" this time around.

        Re: 2009 Dakar

Its good to see more Aussies taking interest in the big international events. Rather than the exclusive V8 Ford vs GM that has such a monopoly here.

A couple of low budget teams have been running the 120s since 2004, but they aren't in the same league (budget) as the big European manufacturer's. The biggest problem is the relatively low power to weight ratio, the lack of ground clearance and limited wheel travel when compared to the top runners.

A couple of the prados in 07 were running unique suspension build-ups, not stuff you buy from ARB and they are fairly guarded as to their actual designs.

Toyota has always seemed to concentrate on long term reliability rather than "wins on sunday sells on monday" logic. Its a pity really as in most race catagories toyota seem to always be catching up. i.e F1

6PM on SBS here. Well worth watching. The trucks are amazing.

If anything the course in Sth America seems tougher than the African one!
