  • Should we have a PP code of conduct?

Considering any individual member driving around, on or off road, represents us all (especially those with PP stickers!) How about we get a Prado Point code of conduct organised?

I realize it would be almost impossible to police, but atleast it sets some sort of standard of behaviour and gets people thinking.

Something based along the lines of those set by the National Four Wheel Drive Council:

    On road driving
    Off road driving
    Camping

    Thoughts :?: :?:

Re: Should we have a PP code of conduct?

Of course it would only be a voluntary Code of Conduct ("the Code"), but it could nonetheless still be part of the acceptance rules for joining the forum (and especially the issuing of PradoPoint.com stickers).

It might also provide some protection to the forum itself - in case any claims are made against it. The Code would tend to shift legal responsibility (blame) for any actions by a PP member that fall outside of the Code to the individual rather than the forum being vicariously liable for their actions.

I don't have a problem with it and think the idea has some merit.

Re: Should we have a PP code of conduct?

I don't agree with that... a few forums now have them and all clubs do. They don't have to be complex and just reinforce a basic level of behaviour the we all, and the community at large would consider common sense and socially responsible.

Also, as part of the greater 4wd community we have a part to play in the perception of our choice of pastime. It already has an image problem with the non 4wding public. Enough tracks have been closed and areas put off limits by red neck behaviour in my opinion. As 4wd owners we all should play a part promoting responsible behaviour and ensuring our pastime is perceived to a positive light.

like you said mate hard to police!
I know it can't be policed but it can be promoted, a code of conduct is only an agreed set a behavioural values, not any sort of rules that even need enforcing...

All sounds alittle over the top for a easy going place like this. Every individual is responsible for his/her actions or inactions. For every action, expect a reaction - that's the way of the universe. No, I don't want to go down this path.
Not going well...two against Both you opinions are of course valid and thats why I asked for "thoughts" on the idea. I myself thought it would make for interesting discussion.

Re: Should we have a PP code of conduct?

yes, it is up to the individual for sure the conduct that they undertake whilst enjoying the hobbie. Sure enough if you get the moron who behaves opposite to the company he or she is on a trip, they sure will not be invited back.
For example I race online with racesims, yes a code of conduct is needed to police the servers, but thats doable, real life is impossible to police and I pitty the bugga who ever puts his or her hand up to do it.... I agree with the majority on this. Great idea though, thats what forums are all about, opinions of others.

Re: Should we have a PP code of conduct?

A broader range of topics for discussion would make things more interesting and also give more of an outlet for peoples ideas. I see things get a little stifled at times but necessary to keep the search function of the forum working. In general though this forum is very well behaved and well run

Re: Should we have a PP code of conduct?

we dont need a code of conduct, will make this place to much like a club, its a good casual atmosphere, and im sure 99% of members do give a stuff about the places we go, and would all like to keep them open, so if people do step out of line im sure common sense will provail and something will be said to let them know they have over step the mark. cheers samo

Would a code of conduct prevent use of a Pajero avatar on a Prado forum?
