The other trick to use is, when I really need to, I call the Prado 'our' car, rather than my car.

Question, I notice your pic shows recovery shackle hanging out of standard Toyota tow hitch.
When I ordered my new Prado and was going through the options I asked if the standard tow hitch was rated for snatch recovery operations. Their answer was "No."
I subsequently fitted full reece hitch setup which is bolted to both side chassis rails and the rear connector as oppposed to standard Toyota bar which is only bolted to the rear connector.
They both have the same towing rating of 2,500kg braked.
My towbar does not go through the bumper either.

I completely understand what you mean Matt. It clicked with me a few weeks ago when I saw a pic of the day we brought it home, then look at what I've done to it in 12months.
..Now she says she doesn't like driving it in city traffic, start/stop, and wants a liberty :? meaning the prado will be a weekend warrior/tourer. Then I start telling her I could SAS it and run 35's lol. She will kill me one day!
