  • Max - Min outside temp readings

For a little bit of mine is bigger, better than yours fun.

I measured this temp the other day 10sec after I stopped driving

Lets see what others can get,

The HOT photos must be from just after you have been for a drive so air can flow over the temp sensor and not from just baking the vehicle in the sun.

For extreme cold I guess the engine heat would increase the temp slightly so no need for the vehicle to be moving.

Please only photos - not it was X hot yesterday because no one would believe you

Personally I think the thermo is out by at least 3-4'c, cause on the radio I heard it was currently 37'c and my thermo read 41'c after driving for about 30mins. Warranted that was from a radio station in Subiaco approx 10k away, but a 4'c drop between there and me is doubtful on such a hot day yesterday in Perth. Hard to tell how accurate they are.

Got a Pick @ 50 degrees after picking up the boss the other night had been driving for about 20 min and it kept changing from 49/50 had to wait till it hit 50 before taking the pic of course. (Will attach soon) Who knew lil' ol' Adelaide would get so hot, was going over the park tce bridge near clipsal for those that know where it is. Was scared to get in the car the day before that after work at 3pm as temp read 57 degrees but parked in full sun all day (unfortunately no camera's allowed at work so no pic) , soon dropped to a chilly 45 though, glad that is behind us now.

28/01/09 and came home to find no power for next 17hrs, ETSA were not my friends.............

Probably closer than you think. Most weather stations are not sitting in full sunlight on a black tar road with multiple fuel burning vehicles about.

My Clubbie has shown -40 a couple of times. Each time was during summer and the real temp was in the (+) 30s. Amuses my kids to watch it slowly count up from -40 to some more realistic temperature.

Mine's on the lower end on the scale. Actually taken on Christmas Day 2006 on Ben Lomond in northern Tassie. Was in Tassie on holiday at the time from the West and at Christmas lunch with the family was convinced we could see snow on the mountains. Kiddies in the car and off we went. They had never seen snow before so we had to do it. Bloody cold up top. Small patches of snow in the shadows still.

Re: Max - Min outside temp readings

This was last Friday as I pulled into the driveway (sat on 49 all the way from work). .

Next day was a couple deg more, but we didn't drive anywhere. A few years back we lived in far north WA (Dampier) and one hot summer reached an official maximum of 51.6C for a few days in a row, but that was before the Prado was even invented.

I should have thought of this before

Love it peteandkyles. Thats the spirit !!

Mmmm Mmmm it was a bit warm last week, I had a few days up between Charlieville and Innamincka, not far from you really

Anyway, my radio keeps dying and the unoffical word is the elecmatroniks don't really like cab temps over 60-70 degrees.

                      "Edit done on terrible grammar"

For all our international readers this is measured in Degrees Centigrade !!

Re: Max - Min outside temp readings

Radio has not been a problem. One of the best things we did when we ordered our Prado was to buy a WHITE one and have the darkest legal tinting put on (all from experience living in Northwest WA and NT for the last 15 years). I would never buy a dark car in these conditions. The sun's just too strong.

The first couple of trips the kids complained that early morning and late afternoon the sun was shining on their DVD player, we bought those horrible window sock things. I don't like them, but they do make the car a lot cooler. Even parking out in the sun last week, the interior wouldn't have got much past 55-60C. I also use a window shade when I park it, which realy helps. the only thing that failed was a portable piece of rub*%$%$ Magellan GPS we bough about 4 years ago. It hates the car being over 25C. Has done that since new and Magellan have worked out a new system of dealing with customers, just ignore them after the purchase. Then they are no problem.
