Well done pomp. Looks great. I hope you get plenty of use and look forward to seeing a write-up from you.

You might consider changing the title of this thread to "Camprite Trailers".

            Re: Camprite Campers

I have a Camprite camper a TL2 . Its a smaller version with no side beds but still all off the ground . We can have it off the car and set up to sleep in and with the kettle on in 3 minutes . Its been very good we bought it in 2001 and have been most places in WA with it ,several times in the Kimbrleys , Bungle bungles , just about everywhere from Esperance to Darwin on and off road . Would like the new one but they are getting expensive as you said.

I was lucky with mine I reckon, its actually a second hand a 2007 model. There is a 3 month wait for a new one (what recession?)
It looks brand new as it belonged to Matt one of the Camprite guys. Honestly there isnt a scratch on it. (Its actually the trailer featured on their website http://www.campritecampers.com.au/s_setup.html )
I completley blew my budget but saved a few K off a new one.

Sounds like a good deal pomp. You're now making me very envious waiting for my CT to arrive. I know what you mean about breaking the budget... but hey, think of all the wonderful times that you'll get from it.

The camprite's certainly look smart and very capable. At the least the red dust won't be too obvious on yours when it gets dirty.

We can't wait for our CT to arrive and for the chance to get out and begin to use/enjoy it.

                  Re: Camprite Campers

Ok well after a few weeks champing at the bit to get out we finally got to setup the new camper for the first time, we stayed a couple of nights at Cervantes.
Obviously we arrived in the dark and then it started to rain (hadnt seen a drop of rain for like 6 weeks plus ) But after on 14 swear words and a possible divorce our first setup went quite well, the tent was up and the kettle on in under 20 mins I reckon.

I fitted these Rock Tamers before we set off

This is the basic overnight setup (which we setup in the dark) viewed the next morning

The next day we got to have play, adding the awning and grounsheet etc:

Plus the side awning (which is a given as it simply zips in, two minute job)

                  Inside

                  All packed up

                  Ready to go

Yes, they are an awesome unit alright, the hard floor trailers are very appealing for setup time specifically. With the GTG stopping everynight, the hard floor jobbies would be ideal after a hard rutted day.

                          Re: Camprite Campers

One nice little touch I noticed was a slot for an umbrella alongside the pull out kitchen, if you need to set up in the rain stick in the brolly and you can cook with some protection from the elements. Handy on a hot day too I would imagine.
Of course I threw out the big brolly we had on the last clear out......wheres that doghouse.

Our record for a pack up from an overnight camp beside the road is about 15mins and that includes a cup of coffee for the road.

Hey Pomp where did you get your Rock Tamers from?

                            Chuck.

                              Chuck
I got the Rock Tamers at the Camping show in Perth. I didnt get them cheap, they were $400 which is full retail. I saved the $60 postage though.
I was going to make them myself, Matt from Camprite made his own on his Patrol which he screwed up under the rear bumper. Now I tell you theres not a scratch on that camper so they must do a good job. I figured it was a protection on my investment.
They dont fit a standard Toyota drawbar so I fitted the rocktamers to a seperate drawbar, with the Treg fitting. So now I just pull out the pin and slide the whole lot under the camper when not in use, then fit back my standard drawbar with the towball for towing my works trailer. So I dont have to have the mudflaps on all the time.

Also, what's the kitchen made out of? It looks like it has to stay out in the weather when the thing is set up and no awning has been erected.

I havent setup yet with the camper still attached to the car but I reckon there is about 800-900mm clearance between the rear of the car and the front of the trailer when setup. So you couldnt open the door fully but you would have limited access.

The kitchen is made entirely of steel so can take a shower or two. We folded the kitchen area back together before we turned in for the night and when all folded shut it does seal quite well, so its just a quick wipeover in the morning.
