  • 40000 service at Broome or Port Hedland

Will be going to WA and beyond later in year and will need the 40000 service done whilst away.
Expect speedo to read about 34000 when I leave and Broome figure would roughly be 39000 and Port Hedland around 40000.

Any comments on service quality at either towns appreciated.

Other option is to have the service done before I leave but, as I have only just had the 30000 done I prefer to have a 5000 service and wheel rotation done here.

    Hi Pedro

Broome has a Toyota dealership. They seemed quite OK when I was there 18 months ago. Broome is great! Try not to stay at the PCYC.
I didn't notice a Toyota dealership in either Port Hedland or South Hedland. I was surprised at how small (and dirty) Hedland was. IMHO don't plan on staying a week there.
Karratha is the hub of the Pilbara and I purchased a fuel filter at the Toyota dealership there. Seemed OK. Quite a bit to see in the area (Roeburne, Cossack, Cape Lambert, Wickham, Dampier). Lovely beach camping at Cleaverville.
The Toyota dealership in Carnarvon is a bit small. Excellent prawns at the co-op.

My impression would be Broome or Karratha for your service.

Have a good trip - John

I've used Broome Toyota for a service and they appear okay. They seem to get plenty of work, so you should be safe there. Have a good trip. Broome is great and one of my favourite spots.

There is a dealership in Port Headland owned by the Pilbara Motor Group, I use them for service in Karratha and they are fine.
I would check on the price though as their labour costs are a lot more than the city.

          Thanks for the tips.

I noticed that Port Headland and Karratha are owned by the same company.
Will be interested to see the price quoted.

Pedro the other thing to be aware of is availability. Sometimes I have had to wait upto 1 month before I could get in for a service as they were booked out.

Re: 40000 service at Broome or Port Hedland

I had the same dilema late last year, needed the major 40k service whilst on a road trip
Karratha, didnt bother asking as to breathe in that town cost you money, Pt Hedland had a 1 week wait & a scary price, broomes price was ok but 3 day wait.

I really wanted to a least get an oil change to ease my mind so I decided to swap the 40k service for the 50k service
Broome was the end of my trip so i decided on just an oil, filter n lube ($150) at broome, they did this in less than an hour.
Then had the full 40km service back in perth at fleet price $470.
