  • Oil soaked snatch strap - is it safe?

I loaned my snatch strap to my son who was carrying it in the tool box in the back of his Mazda Bravo ute, along with his chain saw. As a result of his bottle of chain saw oil losing its lid, the snatch strap was soaked in chainsaw oil! It has all been cleaned up, but I am a little concerned about the possible deleterious effects of the oil on the strap. Is it likely that either its strength or elasticity could have been affected by its oil bath? It is also pretty grubby now, so could it be washed in something that would not affect its operating characteristics?

I'd give the pro's a call on this one.

    Give Nobles a call:

Mind you they are cheap as chit these days... I'd buy a new one

      Bin it,

You will never get all of the oil out with out using a chemical to breakdown the oil, the same chemical would also break down the strap.

better to ere on the side of caution and buy a new one, then find out when you really need it, its busted.
