recommendation for good dealership in Melbourne

Hi Guys,
I have now decided I am after a new d4d auto in flinders. Can anyone recommend a good dealer in melbourne and what a good deal price would be to get one on road for?

I am after no accessories other than the towbar.

are there any downsides to getting the option pack one with traction control or stability?

Does any of this stuff work against you in the bush?

It is good in the bush, will keep you moving when wheeels are lifting, can sometimes work against you on sand, but i beleive it can be turned off.

It is good in the bush, will keep you moving when wheeels are lifting, can sometimes work against you on sand, but i beleive it can be turned off.

thanks , the reason i ask is i have a guy i work with who has a defender who has traction control and goes sand 4wdriving. Within a couple of months messing on the sand dunes he managed to destroy the front diff. now knows to manually disable when in sand

my 2cents worth. Once you've got a delealers "best price', go home and ring a new car broker, there are plenty on the net.
Tell em what you want, ( but don't tell the price you were quoted) ,they'll ring several dealers and should be able to beat the price you were given.
I used one for my D4D 2 years ago , saved $6500 off retail and $$3500 off " best price" from a dealer. The car was also delivered to my house with a tank of diesel ( they wouldn't fill it right up). All this for the paltry some of $150.
If the broker can't beat the price you were quoted, it has only cost you a phone call.
Sorry, being in Sydney I can't recommend any dealers in Melb, although I can recommend some Toyota dealers wouldn't go to in Syd.

With Option Pack 1 when you lock the centre diff I believe it disengages traction control. Also I believe the traction control is more of a high speed thing (over 60kmh at a guess) related to the VSC. Please don't quote me, I am sure someone else here will know 100%

i have used my local dealership - they have been good for the last four or so years. While they are not near the Peninsula they are relatively close to your Chirnside Park location. PM me if you like.

Unless the option pack in the GXL is different from my VX, Trac Control is always on, no matter what speed. When the centre diff is locked, only stability control is disingaged. Although it would be nice if there was a switch to disengage Trac Control, just for those moments like soft sand.

I would hope there would just be a fuse for something like that, so you could potentially put a switch in to disengage. Again the only time that you would really want to is sand 4wdriving.
