  • Poor Service MR TJM

I thought i would make an enquiry to TJM about any new gear for the 120, at the 4x4 show they told us they were doing new bars( the same as the new hilux one) and side steps similiar to the ones they sell for the 200 series.

This is the reply i got. "Your message was deleted without being read on 4/27/2009 10:22 AM." and the email was sent on the 16/04/09.

Looks like my loyalty to ARB will continue.

Jeez. I hope you sent them this message.
It's amazing the lengths some companies (don't) go to to get your business.
Let me tell ya, if it was one of my employees who was responsible for this....they wouldn't be one of my employees.

I would follow up that kind of email response with a good ol' fashioned phone call. Email responses like that are not generated by humans, so it's hard to know where to point the bony finger.

Whilst most email messages get through, the protocol allows for bounced messages etc. There are all manner of reasons why the intended recipient did not receive or read your email. Quite possibly, it is not fault of the intended recipient. The bounce message you got could indicated issues with their ISP, SPAM detection software or the software they are running at their end, etc.

Personally, I'd give 'em the benefit of the doubt once. 2nd time is a pattern.

For now, see if a phone call yields better results and perhaps an explanation for the bounced email. They may be grateful to learn of the problem.

That particular email reply is autogenerated "only" when the person deletes the receipt at thier end.

They can have read it, but obviously chose not to return a read receipt, (it auto sends the delete one when they clean out their deleted items folder).

The fact they havent replied is totally human this means...

A simple phone call would surely be better to clear the air... I get the feeling we all tend to treat email a bit too literally. It's a great tool, but...

TP is right, their is a name attached to the email. I don't get these companys, they have a "contact us" section yet they take ages to responsed if not at all. Why have this a part of your website if someone does not manage it everyday.

              Re: Poor Service MR TJM

If you sent an email to an IT company or accounting firm and got that particular reply back then I'd be a bit more peeved. At places like that, employees need a minimum level of computer literacy to even walk in the door at interview time. At my office, email is essential and not knowing how to use it will have you out the door lightening fast. How you ever got in the door would be a miracle. Yet, at other more hands on businesses like furniture workshops or mechanics garages, things can often still be pretty simple. There are still many people out there who never really use email and are 85% mystified by Windows, the net, and PC's in general. I'd give them the benefit of the doubt and give them a call.

Any business though, that doesn't have a webpage and email addresses that are regularly checked is really doing itself out of a huge amount of business. I, and many people I know like to research things on the net and make decisions based on what we read. More than one busineess has recieved money from me simply because they had a comprehensive website which explained their products and their services. Plus has a "contact us" section that has a response sitting in your inbox the next day. If I wan't to buy anything these days I go straight to the net first, and more often than not order online. TJM can't go around deleting potential sales like that in this day and age, it doesn't take much to get some people off side.
