    Re: Sleeping Bags

Cheers FBP. Yeah I've seen the Coleman bags advertised and didn't know what to make of them. Coleman stuff can be a real mixed bag at times. Sometimes their gear is good, but other times it looks a bit cheap + nasty. The key is they must fit in our suitcases as all the international airlines are clamping right down on excess baggage both in your suitcases and your hand luggage. Already stocked up on thermals so I guess I can put them on at night if need be. Saw some good Blackwolf "Vertical Limit 400" bags too for around $200 each in the walking magazine which are Down filled, and got a reasonable write up. The question will be if any local places have them as we'd like to try before we buy, or test for size.

ops: ops: Aww Geez ops: ops:

Who leaked my pink fetish out! Cmon! Who was it!!!!!!

Actually I've found the Mountain Design labeled down sleeping bags to be the best I've seen to date for price VS quality. Basically we've decided to buy these as we've looked everywhere for the Macpac ones etc and just cant find them. Doesn't matter, the Mountain design ones look the goods and have all the features the travel magazines say to look out for. Around the low $300.00 mark. Must admit I was surprised given that Mountain Designs has a reputation for being very expensive for what you get, but these seem reasonably priced and compress down very well. Let you guys know how we get on with em once we've given them a good testing out. I feel another trip coming on.......

            Re: Sleeping Bags

IP d4d mentioned in an earlier post an inner bag liner. these are a must have in my book. Most of the time i only use the liner on top of my sleeping bag ( i am usually in a swag )
I had a down bag for many many years when hiking in scouts, seniors & Rovers but over the years I think it shrunk and i split it wide open ( no zip) but as I dont do "hikes" any more a bulker bag is fine as it is in the car or trailer.
I also do not leave any sleeping bag stuffed for a long time I store it in a pillow slip so it is kept open and not packed tight.
            Have a great trip !!

              Re: Sleeping Bags

Yeah we're going to get simple linen sleeping bag liners. You can actually get "thermal" liners too which supposedly increase the bags effectiveness. So might turn a 5c rated bag into a 0c rated bag, or so they claim. But for a cool $70.00 I think I'd rather just put on my thermal jocks.

Thanks guys. Hopefully I'll have some decent pics to post up upon return. Trip isn't until late July / Early August though so still a bit of time.....
