  • New Camper Decision Made

Well after testing the ground with other forms of campers we decided that for the next few years we would go with a Coromal Off Road camper mainly due to the kids. So we have decided on this one:

It is not a go anywhere camper but we decided that we would use it as a base to come back to after 4 wheeling during the day.

Holy Cow Mav! Your Glen Helen experience certainly put an end to any off road or soft floor camper! This looks pretty smick, like a proper flash one  Even got a kitchen sink

Congratulations on your new (impending) purchase. Will you have use of it during the PP GTG?

Looks great Mav, Im trying to convince the old man to go halves in a coromal since he told me he was looking at selling his boat! Checked the coromals out at the recent Adelaide Caravan and Camping show and was very impressed with the overall quality. Give me a shout if you need someone to take care of it for a weekend or two

Not likely David unless I get the time to do a flying trip over to Brisbane before then but that is doubtful. If I do I will be taking the Plenty HWY to Boulia the across the tar from there.

            Re: New Camper Decision Made

Well it is officially ours, we had the van inspected today and ended up getting it at a good price, much better price than the Jayco equivalent we were looking at which was also secondhand. The Coromal passed the inspection with flying colours and was reported to me that it is doubtful it has ever seen a dirt road. Apparantly it was mostly used for beach vacations at Southport. Anway now I have to plan a flying trip to Brissy to pick it up. I have never bothered doing the Plenty HWY but I think that may be the way to go there then come back via Dubbo, Broken Hill, Pt Augusta then head up the driveway to Alice. I reckon I can do this in 5 days no problem.

Congrats on your new toy Mav, We have a Jayco Flamingo offroad and it is great but not using it on the GTG.

              Cheers

Nice purchase Mav, Hope you enjoy it.

we are currently looking at trading up from our soft floor camper to a poptop, more comfort, better use as a base station, I also looked at the Jayco Basestation as well - portable workshop for extended 4wd trips, wife said no.

Google says you need to put your foot down: Trip link 2 Days, 23 hours

                  Camper should be nice.

I'm only guessing but given the cost of fuel, your time etc. wouldn't it be easier to freight it to Alice?

                          When are you planning?
I'm planning to travel to Mildura to pick up my new van (June 6th weekend) Obviously I'll be heading down through Dubbo from Brisbane. Might save someone some time?

This is not confirmed as yet, but should know by Wednesday.

I have no idea as yet cause the van has to go in to Coromal for a service and get some mods done to it before I can plan when to shedule a pick up trip. thanks for the offer though.

Whoah! So bright and shiny! Hard to see........

Looks like a sturdy beast Mav, but a comfortable one at that. Looks nice inside! A real caravan / camper trailer cross if ever I've seen one. Looks like a good layout too, nice and spacious. Can't quite make it out.... do you guys sleep where it folds out at either end?

And who takes a microwave camping?? I ask you......... :?

Seems to have a decent bit of clearance from the pics. I think you guys'll get it to some decent places and do pretty well with it Mav. You errrrr.... gonna put Foxtel in it???
