  • On my way to Brissy to pick up the camper

Weel the time has come to hit the road again. I am heading off in about 2 hours time to go to Brissy to pick up the camper and bring it back, I figure I will be in Brissy on Tuesday afternoon. I am going to be having the SPOT shared page active so anyone that wants to check where I am can take a look at it. I will be overnighting in Coober Pedy tonight but then hope to reach Dubbo by Monday night and then Brissy on Tuesday. I probably wont be on the forum much till maybe next Sunday.

    Mav's SPOT Tracking Page

As soon as my SPOT tracker sends its first transmission the map will update to where I am, it always defaults to the west coast of the USA when there are no tracking points to map.

Drive carefully Mav. It will be interesting to see which route you take. Take lots of pics of the new Hilton.

Looks like it is tracking you leaving Alice Springs and heading south.

It's sorta funny watching the SPOT update its location and see the speed/distance that Mav is traveling. Like being a spy and satellite tracking our target.

I found the roads out to Winton to be pretty Good. It was a good run we got from Brisbane to Longreach in a 12hr day.

My guesstimate is that Mav is going to be doing 1500 Ks - Coober Pedy to Dubbo, that is a long day!!

Unfortunately they're all just lines on a map to me

I think the BNE caravanning and camping show finishes at 4pm on Tuesday... might be some bargains just before closing time if you make it Mav

Sure its a long day - but the prize for Mav is worth it.

As a Territorian, I have regularly travelled 1,500km in one day, especially when living in Alice Springs. I guess that's the thing about living in Central Australia - you are equally near to everything (ie 1,500km from everywhere else) .

Another reason why we also have higher highway speed limits in the NT. I think you get used to long-distance travel after a while. Only problem is, many people aren't (mainly tourists) used to it and can easily suffer fatigue and crash.

Re: On my way to Brissy to pick up the camper

I called it quits at Cobar folks, the weather has been crap today. Rained from Wilmington across to cobar and the Roos are thick on the ground. I am not in the habit of commiting suicide so decided to stay at Cobar tonight.

Glad it is keeping you all entertained. I had a bit of a scare with the MTZ's going over Horrocks Pass, they are deadly on wet tar first time I have ever had the VSC kick in and it scared the bejesus out of me. So I have been taking it real easy on wet roads.

Of worthy note is that Lake Hart just north of Pimba is full of water, it is normally a dry salt lake.

                            You gotta love the SPOT.

I will put up my info when I head out next Tuesday. It would be nice to have a SPOT thread with a single post for every user and a link to their shared SPOT page.
