Finally watched the Hobbit, thought it was really well done and was good in 3d. Still pissed that they have turned it into 3 movies and only releasing 1 a year

That annoyed me as well. They dragged out scenes for 20+ minutes that could've easily been filmed in 3 or 4 minutes and you'd still get the gist of it. It just frustrated me that the movie kept getting snagged and didn't move forward in many places. Then 20-30 minutes you'd finally get over the hurdle of that scene, and only get snagged on another extra long one with not much momentum not long after.

Watched "end of watch" last night, very full on flick, filmed by Mr Shaky-Handycam to give the feeling of real live documentary. It's kinda like the 'Cops' tv show but with a really engaging plot. I liked it a lot.

Also watched Skyfall last week. I really liked it, loved the new vs old references throughout, as a long time bond fan, it was fun to reminisce during a modern movie, unique.

                        • Django Unchained was a brilliant movie. It's not the sort of movie women enjoy too much as I've found out the two times I've seen it. They like it until the massive shoot out begins towards the end and then get turned off and want the movie to hurry up and end. The only scene I didn't like was the mandingo fight scene as I thought it could've been done so much better and more realistic. Two heavy weights fighting in a tight confined area at the end of a room, with two men sitting watching eagerly and leaning forward over them on a couch, nothing getting bumped into, knocked or broken during a fight to the death, bullsh*t. I tried to enjoy this scene for what it was but it was terribly shot.

I'm glad someone has released an original movie at last because so much CRAP over the last few years has been boringly re-re-re-re-re-invented. Don't even get me started on comic book stories being made into movies. The film industry has been there done that for way too long and sorry to say it.... It's not getting any better and I'd be honest in saying it's 2 to nearly 3 hours of your life you'll never get back watching them. But Django has gone in a direction left alone by film makers. I think it's the flagship for many other movies of a similar genre (pre civil war black slavery and black slavery action revenge) to follow. Just like what Dawn Of The Dead and 28 Days Later did for the zombie genre. They kick started an explosion of zombie movies (and games) swamping the market. I wouldn't rule out the 4 or 5 Wayans brothers creating a comic spoof black slavery movie at some stage.

Overall, great story, great script, great dialogue, well delivered lines, great acting from the leads, 3 dimensional villains (unlike that of comic book movies), humour thrown in, lots of projectile blood to put a new spin on things, and some decent cameos. And if Quentin Tarantino ever attempts an Australian accent again in a movie I'll also jump on the band wagon that is against him acting in movies ever again haha. But I do think that was a dig at his critics who for so long condemned his acting ability, so Quentin went all out on this occasion and did such a deliberately terrible job in Django that it won't matter what they say about it because even he will know it was terrible. I'd always liked his acting roles in movies either he or Robert Rodriguez directed, but not on this occasion. Why he just didn't play an American for his 2 minutes in the movie is beyond me. When the sticks of dynamite put an end to that accent I was pretty glad, and that particular scene was good. If you blink you'll miss it as it all happens so fast when 3 men get dropped by a single pistol.

Overlooking those 2 minor oversights, it was a terrific movie and one you can definitely watch more than once and still enjoy just as much.

                          • Sorry Brett... did you like Django (the D is silent) or not?

World War Z isn't a bad flick either for a zombie movie.
