    Re: Whats your other Hobby

My Hobby is riding dirt bikes in the S.A. reliability trial series. Very much the same as car rallys. Uses public roads to get to competative sections. duration of events can range fro 6 -24hrs. all tools and spares must be carried by the rider and no outside assistance is permitted. Events are generally day/night so good quality lighting is required. the stator and wiring on my bike is wound up to 160 watts so I can run H1 and H4 lights. a lot of competitors are now using HID lighting.

        Re: Whats your other Hobby

Photography is also one of my hobbies but dearest to my heart is SCUBA diving.
BTW, thanks guys for those useful photography links in previous posts.
Of course, one needs a Prado to lug all the equipment around the country side and I do mean from west to east to north and south and back again!!
Currently waiting for days off to dive the Yongala wreck, just south of Townsville.

You're here for a good time, not a long time... Love my Prado...

I am sure you will love the Yongala. Have been there a number of times as I previously lived in Townsville. Best wreck dive i have ever done, and that is quite a few now.

Nothing specific, but things that I enjoy are Diving, fishing, marroning, camping etc

I have also spent quite a few in my local Apex club. We are a younger persons Service Organisation, with a club in Busselton

You live in a great spot for diving. Must get down there again this summer and dive the Swan again.

                Re: Whats your other Hobby

Yep, done the Swan twice. Easily the best dives I have done in my couple of years of diving.

Mainly chase crays and abalone, with the odd recreational dive.

Bsn Jetty probably 2nd best dive. Its a bit of a secret treasure that one........

                    Re: Whats your other Hobby

One of my other hobbies has proven to be as expensive as running the Prado.

I built my cobra (RMC Shelby replica) between 1996 - 1999. I stopped counting when I had receipts for a bit over $25,000. I then went a bit overboard on the engine by replacing every bit and buying a whole heap of gear from the US including alloy heads and other flash bits. I couldn't help myself and did the dash and door trims in carbon fibre which I hand made by vacuum forming the fibre to aluminium sheets. I tried to save some money by painting the machine myself.

I conservatively estimate that is has cost me a bit over $50,000. I'm on the second gearbox and second set of rubber after only 25,000km. Now I have a nasty grinding noise from the bottom of the motor. I think this will be an expensive repair as I can see a nice shiney 347 stroker crankshaft going into the little 5 litre to make it feel better.

Have a look at the beast at: www.cobracarclubwa.com and follow the links to members cars and then Dave T page.

Must be something about Prados that attract so many people with similar interests.
Mr Fishnut is into cycling - we both love watching the Tour.
We both scuba dive, though I am far more fussy re: water temp.
Both love the great outdoors, camping and exploring. Love travelling to other places when finances allow.
Recently upgraded our point and shoot to a DSLR and started to explore this more passionately. (Thanks to the site links - have just joined AusPhotography and wasted many hours already!).

Really is a pity (for me anyway) that work gets in the way of all the other things I would rather be doing 8)

I love fishing and really really love spear fishing, although last Friday I got wedged under a bommie, not very pleasant. Tore some great big holes in my wettie getting myself out of trouble and have a really nasty coral cut across my arse.

Yep, photography for me too, particularly underwater.

Many a dollar spent on camera equipment can I say & when you start looking at taking SLR's into the water it tends to get even more expensive.
