Re: WHOS ON SKYPE
Yup, used Skype for years, in fact we don't own a normal phone anymore..we pay $60 for a years subscription to have a normal phone number and it allows us unlimited local or national calls, nothing more to pay.
We also have mobiles though. You can't dial any 1300 numbers on Skype but we have a wireless phone handset and a 6Gb download/month. If we leave the net & Skype on through the day and switch it off at night (leave mobiles on) we get to 5Gb. Works well for us. People calling us just pay their normal rates.Cheers - Phil Taylor

Re: WHOS ON SKYPE
We only use it for video link ups, not ph calls etc. Havent explored it that far yet.
I think an hours skype video call to the BiLaw in Canada uses about 600mb.
Im always amazed at how many people are on line. Currently 14,847,300 people on-line.Cheers

Re: WHOS ON SKYPE
We use for call the USA...but we find the video call better using Windows live. We have tried both. Use Skype for making phone calls. $60 a year is what I pay and gladly. The better half spends about 4 to 5 hours a week talking to family and friends in the USA. We love it here and plan to stay for a long while. :lol:Manata 3" Exhaust, Blisten shocks, King Springs 50 mm lift, Poly Air Bags, Roof Rack, Iron Man Bull Bar, HID 50W LightForce XGT spotties, Daul Batteries, GME TX3440 & AE4705 ant, Upgraded window washer, Bonnet Scoop, Tunit chip, bonnet protector, headlight protector, Cooper STT's, ScangaugeII, Dash Mat, Endless Air, Stebel Nautilus, Diff Breathers, Water Sedimentor. Re: WHOS ON SKYPE
me too...
I'm just using it to talk to landlines. Skype to Skype cost nothing, but calling a non Skype landline number costs about 2.7 cents per minute. Calls to mobile numbers costs around 11.8 cents per minute so not that cheap. I have a 'MyHour' with Telstra so that gets flogged..
Skype uses up big megabytes using the video call but if you just call without the video, very little usage. I have thoroughly investigated this as I have a 1gig limit on a mobile broadband modem. Was always going over when combined usage with internet. I don't have a home  so can't get broadband like most people do with bundling their phone and computer usage. That's why I am after the cheapest possible calls.
You can use Skype when you are connected with a 33.6 Kbps modem or faster. However, when you are using a modem for other types of internet traffic, such as web surfing, file sharing or email you may get disruptions so turn everything off in the background and don't fiddle!!
Dial up is becoming a thing of the past but some folk don't have access to a broad enough band. Anyway, I chat constantly with my friend in Rocky who has dial up and it cost nothing. She is still coming to terms with talking to her computer  instead of into a phone..
Apparently they are bringing out Skype phones that don't require your computer to be on!! Have to investigate that one more fully.
CheersYou're here for a good time, not a long time... Love my Prado...
