  • Folding Saw

I'm looking at getting a folding saw for use in cutting up firewood. Last time I had a standard prunning saw which worked well but I wanted to get something that holds over the blade as protection when stored. I've seen on the web the Bushranger Bush Saw for about $30 but the blade looks kind of small. Just curious to see what others may be using and what they think.

    Re: Folding Saw

I use an axe... much quicker and easier to cut all sizes of firewood. Plus, some of the firewood we found during our recent Central Australian and Outback SA trip was pretty hard. A hand saw would have been impossible IMHO.

        Re: Folding Saw

Mate, I've got the same Bahco saw that D4D recommends, it was around $35 in Bunnings but its really good, blade has stayed sharp for three or four years of garden work and rough garden work at that. I like the handle because the bulbous end helps you grip the thing. Brilliant. Also light enough to add to the pack when bush walking as I like cutting odd bits for walking sticks etc. You won't regret it. Jim

          Re: Folding Saw

Bunnings have a number of folding pruning saws like that. I have one that has protection guard for the fingers that also folds out - can't remember the brand but I'll take a photo tomorrow.

They are real handy to keep under the seat and pull out to prune small branches etc overhanging the road, also good for small firewood.
          Cheers, Wayne
