    Re: army buys merc G-wagon

Lets face it, there a nice machine. A mate back home in the Gong had one. Sold it cheap too after he crashed it. I should have bought it off him. Mechanical diff lockers front and back standard, turbo 3.0ltr diesel although only a 4 speed, could always pull the top off the custard. Made my Suzuki look like a toy offroad. Cost him 3 times as much to rebuild the motor and turbo then it did to purchase it (it had done over 500k klms without any problems) new back in the 80s. I have all the respect of G-Wagons, ive seen them play and I can tell you they play with the hardest. My mates might have had half a million klms on his and it weighed over 3 tonnes and was a SWB that had no room with 4 passengers, was a bitch to drive cause it was uncomfortable and slow but boy could it climb. Parts cost a years wage and it drank like no other diesel, yet where he took it would have some diehards crying in their beers,

    zook.
