Re: Arkaroola Mining Threat
Gen joined some save arkaroola thing when we stopped there on the way back from the GTG it is a 4wd paradise but the most inefficient no idea run resort i have ever been to seemed like a bunch of backpackers right up to the manager with no idea all attractions overpaid and guides had little knowledge
Needs someone knoledgable in tourism and customer service to get in there and sort it out and then you would have a winner if they keep going the way they were when we were there then i would not be suprised it is swallowed up which would be a shame as it would be a great central GTG spot to go wild but i recon they would have a meltdown if it was even suggested
No comparison when you compare it to how wilpena pound down the road is runDont list all ya mods, you will only be more upset when i get further

Re: Arkaroola Mining Threat
Hi Chester
Interesting comments, we came back from the Drive 4 Life in August 09 that way and found the opposite with Arkaroola and Wilpena Pound. $55.00 for the Skytrack, no entry into Wilpena Pound tracks unless in a tag along, the girl at the info centre was only interested in selling ice creams.
We went to Arkaroola and they couldn't be more helpful, we had a 8 week old baby in our group, high chairs, special treatment at the restaurant, use of the motel bathrooms for bathing the baby. They also gave us a full run down on the tracks what to look for and difficulty. We stayed three days and could have stayed a week, $18.00 a night for the camping including hot showers, washing facilities, although it was very dry when we were there.
If anyone is interested in a good trip Drive 4 Life are doing trips in the Vic High Country in April 2010 and round Western NSW and Eastern SA in October 2010, very well organised and you will meet agreat bunch of people as well as supporting a worthwhile charity (also tax deductable).
