The Mitsubishi 4WD Owners Club of Queensland is hosting the 2010 Australian 4x4 Gathering which is an event held every two years in various States and Territories around Australia. It is the first time Queensland will host the event.
Event History
The Australian 4X4 Gathering has been held every two years, in every state and Territory so far except Queensland.
The 1st Gathering was organized by a group of friends from various 4WD Clubs in South Australia (majority of the input and manpower came from the 4WD Adventurers Club) and held at Allandale Station via Oodnadatta in 1996 and was attended by 130 people. The beneficiary was the local Aboriginal Community.
The 2nd Gathering in 1998 was organized by the Toyota Land Cruiser Club of Victoria, held at Ross River Homestead via Alice Springs. The 4WD Club of WA was selected to host the 3rd Gathering at Mt Augustus in WA in 2000.
The 4th Gathering was held at Tillmouth Well in the NT. In 2002, the Rotary club of Broken Hill hosted the 5th 4X4 Gathering.
The Independent 4X4 Club of Tasmania hosted the 6th Gathering near Hobart in 2006.
Each of the Gatherings has attracted a large number of 4 Wheel Drivers from across Australia and the last gathering the 7th which was hosted by the Toyota Land Cruiser Club of Victoria in Mitta Mitta in March 2008 was also a huge success with 395 people attending.
Who can attend?
Anyone interested in 4WDing can attend and you do not have to be a member of a club. As it is being held on the Sunshine Coast, we are expecting many 4WDers from the southern States to attend for our warmer climate and pristine environment. You will also be rubbing shoulders with many from around Australia. It is a great opportunity to meet and mix with those who have a similar 4WDing interest.
Up to 400 families are expected to join us at Pomona which is situated in the picturesque Sunshine Coast hinterland. Tag along trips of varying duration will be conducted through the neighbouring State Forests, the spectacular local area and the unique heritage listed Fraser Island with its rainforest and sparkling lagoons. The Gathering will be based at the local showgrounds with evening entertainment provided as well as some bush poetry to make you laugh. Prizes, giveaways, checking out other vehicles are all part of the Gathering. You are sure to have fun!

Proceeds will support the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia and the VKS-737 Australian National 4WD Radio Network. Come and support these two great organisations and the lovely town of Pomona.
