  • The Stupid Things We Do...

so today at work reversing through a small gate, failed to see a small post which caught the end of my side step and proceeded to push it forward into the tyre...after the boss had a good laugh i spent the next hour doing some panel beating on the L brackets (which by the way are $72 each to replace) and with the plates also bent forward at least i've got something to do besides watch tv....anyways...just one of those things i guess...

Yea the wife did that on a water crossing but hey I forgave her as she at least did it by herself and without me in the Prado to assist. Still have not fixed it all the way but it is drivable.

aah, yep, some time ago I left some paint on some terrible columns on a multi-story Maccas carpark Luckily most of it was off the dodgy painted bumper anyway.

..left the dog in the car as a pup. 2 seatbelts well chewed  $800 to replace them.

      These things happen.

Don't put 9 volt batteries and ammo in the same pocket.

Was at the range and had a spare 9v battery in my pocket which was going to be put into the pac timer. Picked up a loose cartridge off the floor and without thinking too much about it just threw it in my pocket.

Started to get a really warm sensation against my left thigh. Put my hand in my pocket and grabbed out a REALLY hot round! I reckon it was only a few seconds or so off detonation. The round had shorted out aginst both terminals on the 9V. Duracell used to supply little blanking plates across the battery terminals but it seems cost cutting has stepped in and now they don't supply them when you buy the batteries in bulk as I do.

        That's stupid!

I had a Mazda Bravo too.... just before the Prado.... awesone LSD and good lowrange gearing... 4" lift on mine, tons of room, absolute sleeper 4x4, great for wiping the smiles off the faces of Hilux owners. 2.6 petrol/5 speed combo gives a good turn of speed and sounds great with extractors and exhaust... sucks juice like a V6 though.

So thats two stupid things for me then???..... better not mention the Daihatsu Rocky then...

Re: The Stupid Things We Do...

I drove up to a dealers yard in the northern suburbs of Perth and while peering up at the signage to find out where the entry to spare parts was, drove down the drive and straight onto one of those pop up bollards and wedged the vehicle up off the ground and couldn’t move it.

After a few seconds people came running from the workshop and dealer offices with jacks and all sorts of equipment to help lift me off. I damaged the bollard beyond repair and then went in and bought some $10 touch up paint.

The truck was unscathed – cant say the same for my ego. ops: ops:

Yes this one is 2.6ltr dual fuel - I dont know much about them . My mate owned this car and wanted me to sell it for him about a year ago I did not show much interest then the other day he said I can have it , it has a cracked cyl head and being in the industry I thought I could easily rebuild the engine and get a reco head for under 1k . It will make a good fishing truck rather than exposing the Prado to salt water when launching and retrieving the boat

Yeah I know.... not much 4x4 cred at the pub with this one  , but personally I thick they were hugely underated in their time... 2.8lt intercooled turbo diesel (Toyota engine) when nothing else around had turbos.... bit small (2 door five seat wagon) and expensive for parts now they are rare and long in the tooths. Farmers love them (available as a ute).

Oxy welding, creates a fire, fire spreads to your demolition charges, charges detonate destroying your home, your sheds, your business and sets fire to the surrounding bush. Puts one bloke in hospital with shrapnel wounds to the guts.

                              Now, that's stupid.
