  • 150 versus kangaroo

Saw a bloke washing his new 150 at one of the car wash places in Kalgoorlie the other weekend. Then I noticed all the grill and lights were missing and the fenders and bonnet were all buckled.

When I enquired what had done the damage he replied that he had smashed into a reasonably large kangarooster. He was getting rid of the blood and guts that had gone through the radiator.

He was looking at my ARB bar and said that he wished he could have got one for his new fourby. He was waiting for the repairer to source all the panels and airbags to repair the car.

Sounds as though from what you've said that the car was still driveable - seeing as how he was washing it at a car wash? Intercooler (if it was Deisel) must still be OK? Good to see the front end can cope with at least some impact without devastating consequences even when unprotected by bars.

And people ask us why we fit bars to our 4WD's. Surprise surprise, there is actually a reason behind it. And it doesn't involve intimidating other road users.

And some people reckon they mostly only come out at night, mostly.

I almost got caught the other week, twenty past two in the afternoon, about 10km west of Coolgardie. He deliberately waited until I was in the right spot and then he decided to cross the road! But I managed to avoid him - just.

I reckon I would be pretty freaked out if some random person asked if they could take pics of my car to post on a website I knew nothing about...

Better yet, should have told the bloke to sign up to PP

My ARB bar works great - coming home from the Gold Coast last year - just outside of Dubbo - right on sunset - these three sheep decided to suicide - right under my truck

The outcome - No damage to the Prado - lamb chops all over the road - I think the bar just paid for itself - But those sheep sure do stink

                      Hi Guys,

does anyone use the Shu Roo product. A lot of people reckon their very effective including my truckie brother.
Not sure how much they are, but could have been a better alternative whilst saving for a Bullbar.

                      cheers

The roos, wedgies, goats, camels and dogs out this way don't care too much about technology. Doesn't matter what time of the day or night, winter or summer. They just want to test your driving and braking skills at anytime.

Just pushed a dopey camel up along a track in the Great Victoria Desert for nearly 3 kilometres. Had the bullbar up his bum all the way. He just did not want to get out of the way! Mangey bloody thing just stood there with his big brown eyes and couldn't give a stuff. I should have busted a cap in his sad old ass.

My understanding is that they make a high pitched sound that the roos can hear, this may be true, but i always wondered how the roo knows which way it should jump. My inlaws only hit 1 Kangaroo after they had one installed so i think save your money and put it towards a roo bar.

                            Cheers Andrew

Some friends have the Shu Roos on their motorcycles, and swear by them. Following one friend with it installed, I saw for myself how well it works - a wallaby was about to jump out on the road, and veered off, also seen the same with a couple of goannas (and they were big fellas!).
