Re: Hail Damage on the Prado

I actually drove through the storm in Narre Warren Nth, and it was incredible, fortunately no damage to the prado, I reckon the roof rack helped to protect the car.
My other car at home has a few sml dents in the roof. Not really worth fixing though.

A friend at Penfold motors, said every one of their used cars were damaged. He said the dearer the car the easier it dents, cause of the the thinner panels.

We have had over 60mm of rain over the weekend.

We copped more rain and wind than hail at our place. So that meant that I was out all saturday night and sunday, with CFA cutting trees and helping the SES tarping up damaged houses.

Not a storm I want to see again anytime soon.

    Cheers
    Adrian

Re: Hail Damage on the Prado

We had a similar event i guess about 2 years ago and received damage to both the Prado and wifes corolla, must say the repair results where great.
O ne positive for me was that we picked up at auction a repairable write off Rav4 for daughters 1st car with minimal hail damage for a great price and she is still driving it around with no problems except the hail damage. Now we have 2nd daughter about to drive it might be time to do it again, will be watching the auction sites.

Feeling sorry for ya, must have been horrible. I notice it's now in a garage??

We were camping down at Glengarry & got 86mm over the weekend (half way through Monday anyway). No hail fortunately.

Yes Ferntree Gully are having a "Hail sale". Neighbour across the road works for them.

The phot in this thread is not of my Prado....someelse posted it from another forum. I do, however wish I had a bigger garage now. For some reason the wifes Mazda and the Jayco O/B take pride of place under cover..... :?

My luck I'm in Rowville which along with Lysterfeild, Ferntree Gully and Boronia where some of the worst hit areas. Not to mention I also have a kitchen ceiling that is starting to look ominous.

The pictures above are not of my Prado. They have been posted from another forum. Luckily no windows where smashed just every other panel.

Re: Hail Damage on the Prado

we got very lucky when the storm hit: while normally we would have been out and about around that time on a saturday getting groceries and whatnot, we were at a barbie in Flowerdale and missed all the 'fun' (of course, Flowerdale had their 'fun' on Black Saturday last year)... we got a bit of rain, but no hail at all. when we got back to our place (in the west) we noticed the shredded trees and damaged cars.

i feel for everyone who got their cars damaged...

The storms in Perth were quite bad my mother was on the phone to her insurance company looking out her house window describing the hail damage on her Rav 4 and whilst talking she asked them when finished to be put through to house claims is her ceiling just caved in .

Re: Hail Damage on the Prado

My wife and I arrived home at the same time on Monday and quickly moved the trailer to the undercover area behind the garage. It had been in the Garage to pack for the camping trip this weekend. We Squeezed both cars into the garage to avoid any chance of hail damage. Well Port Kennedy didn't get any hail but we are still without power 40 hours later

While I didn't suffer any hail damage, I sure am grateful for being in the Prado when having to drive through some of the massive 'puddles' caused by the downpour on Monday.

Went out to garage Tuesday morning to go to work and found half the garage ceiling had caved in. Luckily not on the Prado but all over the boat. No damage to the boat. Can now see daylight through the tiles on the roof above the garage. Not sure when repairs will happen but the boat will need a big cleanup next weekend.

Re: Hail Damage on the Prado

My brother is currently shopping for a new (old stock) 120 GXL.

Scarborough Toyota rang him and offered him an update GX at a really good price. When he asked what the catch was they told him they had about 12 of the things all with extensive hail damage to the panel work and he could probably save himself 15 grand or so.

As a former panel beater he declined their offer.

Sorry to hear you guys copped a pounding with the hail, it is the one thing I worry about on hot summer days in Sydney's west when I am driving there and the southerly busters roll in.
