Anyone been watching the Leyland Brothers episodes on channel seventwo (72). I have been recording them on the HD because they are on at ridiculous times. Over Easter I watched them do a trip up the OTT to the cape with these big balloon tyres on the Landie's, theory was they would "float" over the sand and mud. Better in theory than practice is showed in the end. They travelled the OTT in 1972 and it certainly was real adventure stuff back then with no one using the track for 8 months prior to the Leylands trip. I think they blew a rear??? diff and had to wait for a replacement to be flown in before continuing. Winching the cars across a very wide flowing Jardine was ballsy stuff too.
The other episode I watched was a trip to Birdsville across the Simpson from Oodnadatta with them blowing a clutch and waiting a couple of days for a new one to be flown in.
The last episode was canoeing down a river in the Barrington Tops for 5 days to Myall Lakes.
I recorded another episode but haven't watched it yet but it was about the Strzelecki Track so looking forward to that.
I remember watching this show as a kid and even though they don't have the polish of todays shows like Pat Callinan I enjoy watching them to this day
