    Hi All

Had to work last Friday, and had a wedding to go to Saturday, so I had Dad babysit my kids. So after the wedding we went to Dads to pick up the kids and have a lovely roast dinner. After dinner we loaded up the kids and hit the road about 8.30pm. As we approached Kenmore (dark bushy area), we hear a loud bang, followed by a sound like gravel being poured.
Just I was about to ask the kids what they had dropped, my Girlfriend said the back window was smashed. I quickly check if everyone was OK, thank goodness they were!!

I quickly relised that it was probably kids, and that if I stop and went back I would be giving them another shot. I stopped around the corner to find the rear RHS pivot window smashed and glass throughout the cargo area. Indoroopilly Copshop was only about 5mins away, so I drove straight there.

I reported it to one of the Coppers there, he asked if it was near the OLR school, I replied yes, he then added something was happening there as there was just a call from there. They took all the details and photos and we were once again on our way home.

Sunday morning I rang the Insurance company (CGU), after quick and easy phone call, they transfered me to O'Brians, who quickly verified they had stock and that a fitter would call me soon. Shortly after the fitter called saying he had just finnished a job and would be here within 1/2hr. He fitted the new glass and cleaned up all the glass, very happy! The car's all fixed, luckily no one got hurt, but sometimes you wonder what kids are thinking, we were doing 60kpm at the time, so only had to be a split second earlier and it would have hit my sons window, or worse mine, who knows what would have happened if the rock hit me!!!

    OOCH!!

    Glass everywhere

So thats what that tray is for

    O'Brians to the rescue

    Nearly done

    All better

      Re: Bloody School Holidays

Yeah gave us a fright and something to think about.

Because the rear windows are factory tinted for privacy, they don't have any plastic film over them, so the glass just sprayed everywhere.

One of my mates has just come back from Honiara after training the 'locals" how to fit armour film (clear film to hold glass together) to cars to be used in the upcoming election, funning thing was when I asked him why they were doing it, the main threat was rocks!!! Think I might get him over to train this Local!!! Probably also handy if window gets hit by a stick whilst out on the tracks.

        That's unfortunate.
        The good thing was:
        1. O'brien's had stock
        2. You don't have to get your car into the panel beaters and be without it for days if the rock was to hit a panel

Was the replacement a genuine Toyota window?

Yes it was an original Toyota window, I was a little surprised. Maybe not enough market to justify others making them.

Good thing it missed everyone, about 1 year ago my wife was driving with our son in the front seat and they got rocked on the windscreen and they saw

the kid do it. They went to the house where he lived to have him stand and say it wasn't me, there were no parents around so they left and reported it

to police whowere having a quite day so said they would go and have a little chat to the lad. At least our windscreen held up and only got a small chip on

it but the next person may not be so lucky.
