Hi All,
I'm a long time visitor to 4x4 Shows and Caravan and Camping Shows here in Qld. After attending both these shows this year, I have come to the opinion that the products being exhibited and sold at these events are available elsewhere for less cost. Show specials no longer exist.
Having moved from the dark (Nissan) side approximately 8 weeks ago, I made the decision when selling my Patrol to sell all the accessories with it and start with new up-to-date gear. I purchased the Prado in April and attended both the 4x4 Show and more recently the Caravan & Camping Show in Brisbane ready to spend on bullbar, UHF, e-Rust system, Dual Battery system, HID Spotties and other bits and pieces. The only thing I walked away with was the electronic rust system. I attended these events having done my research first and I subsequently found out that I could get everything on my shopping list locally or via the internet far cheaper than at these events. Not one of the show suppliers I spoke with were interested in haggling with me to match the prices I had got elsewhere.
By building up a rapport with the local TJM dealer, I've found that the prices I get there are no different than the so called 'good deals' from larger retailers in the southeast corner.
My advice to anyone attending large trade shows - do your price homework first.
Cheers.
Neale.
