I hope you're not like the techies that run our agency systems: first they will give you the cheapest computers and laptops that they can bulk buy. Then they run them all through an outdated server system that's crumbling apart because it can't handle any more traffic. Then they arrange for the PCs to crash every second day or so. That guarantees them full time employment trying to remotely fix the problems whilst we users fume on the other end of that 1800 telephone line. The same telephone line that is run by more techies who also need to ensure their existance by causing the system to crash...........

We do something different again. I run a private killing service.... anything on 4 legs is ok, oh, and grovelling doesnt count either. Actually, we have a small abattoir that does service slaughtering for butchers(kill thier stock and deliver back whole and cold) and a lot of slaughter and cut up for people who bring their stock in.. comes in live,, comes back in a box ready to put in freezer. Get the hand shakes when i havnt killed anything for a while  Real name Trevor the butcher(hence meatman) & Wendy

I work for a public hospital network in Melbourne.

I am System Administrator for any and all hospital applications that contain patient data (Emergency/Ward/Imaging/Pathology etc)

Stuck behind a desk or in a meeting room means loading up the Prado and getting out of the city is something I do as often as I can!

That sounds like what my Wife does. Not that i have the slightest idea what her job really involves  . Systems Administrator is her title though and she is in the health system, works on a computer and goes to lots of meetings, all relating to patient data.

                  Cheers Andrew

Re: What does your job involve??

I look after the emergency response and security teams across 2 coal mines in central Queensland.
Basically organising training, trying to keep the security people on track and keeping management happy.
Spent 8 year previously in Iron ore mines in WA (5 operating trucks and loaders, 3 as a safety officer/ advisor.
Spent 15 years working for a government department and did an apprenticeship as a diesel mechanic before that.
Hold a commercial Coxswains ticket and have a life long desire to fly helicopters (just can't seem to afford it)
Will spend some time in QLD looking at the scenery and then head back to WA or at least that is what the missus wants.
                    Kev,

2010 Silver 5dr GXL, Auto, diesel, ARB Deluxe bar, ARB bash plates, lightforce 170's, safari snorkel, towbar, dual batteries, air bags, trans cooler, Kings/Koni's, ARB rack, Cooper S/T Maxx's, Rock Tamers, Beaudesert 2.75" exhaust and more to come.

I work for a group that provides corporate advisory services. Fancy name for everything ranging from investigating accountant engagements, restructuring of companies, receiverships for secured lenders, through to voluntary administrations, liquidations and bankruptcies for individuals. We also have an I.T. forensics division that does some pretty amazing stuff recovering information admissible for court purposes with everything electrical (including deleted information from mobile phones, computers etc). The job is enjoying when we can make a difference by turning a business around, but has its down side when we have to gently "put a company down" because things are terminal.

I have to go and teach people to survive the drive when they go out 4WDing through the centre of this great land. In fact, I'm off this week for 2 weeks of it. Should be fun, V8 troopies, bit of rain, some mud, some awesome outback scenery.
