  • Thought I would take this opportunity to introduce myself to the forum with my first post. I currently live in Port Stephens (NSW) and have a 2004 GXL V6 auto with a few mods. I'm married with 2 young kids. As this appears to be a rather more mature forum than others I have been a member of, I am willing to disclose my occupation is a police officer. I have already obtained a wealth of knowledge from posts on this forum which I can see is going to send me broke with purchases.

    Cheers guys (and gals)

                • Well this is my 2nd post, the first being made only 15 minutes ago! I am an Air Traffic Controller, now based in Brisbane but formerly in Melbourne, Arabian Gulf and Switzerland. My wife and I are avid 4WDrs, and spent many days and nights out in the Arabian desert and mountains in our previous Cherokee Limited. It went real good too! Most days off now see us in the forests around Brisbane in our deep blue VX D4D, trying and usually succeeding in getting lost!

Would love to meet some ppointers on the trail some day 8)
                  Cheers

                      • I am an ERP (SAP and Oracle Business Solutions) Project and Change Manager working for Atos-Origin (now HP Middle East). Having previously worked in UK, Kuwait, Pakistan and Oman, now in Saudi-Arabia. Extensive travel due to project related work but not to off-shore sites, apart from one neat the Saudi-Kuwait Border. (Yes off-shore also means - Desert Sites).
Why did I get the Prado - well Wadi Bashing in Oman and the next plan to visit Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon and also to remote mountain hide-outs. In love with nature. Have done the extensive tarmac drives from Oman to Kuwait visa (UAE and Saudi) and from one end of Saudi to another (most of them 2,000 - 3,000 KM's). Don't like cross-winds in harsh desert storms while in a Prado.

My wife often says that I am a bore man (but I don't think she is referring to the occupation)...

                          • Stealing a theme from above....

I am a 4WD tour operator and trainer based in Townsville but spend May to October in places like this

                            and this

I love waking up to this

                            and taking people here

                            Driving in this

                            is fun

and it is sometimes a challenge to stop vehicles doing this

                            The sunsets are crappy

and so are some of the camps

                            But it beats watching TV
