    • Today we had to travel 200 odd kilometres across rain soaked terrain east of Kalgoorlie. The ooze almost claimed one car but after 10 minutes of toing and froing the driver managed to get out of the worst without need for assistance. We were getting ready to winch him out as we all stood on the side of the track giving constructive advice (laughing) and taking photos.

But a few kilometres further along I called the driver behind us on the CB and warned him about a big hole. Yep, he went straight into it and we ended up snatching him out.

Small world. I installed the laser and console into the Dash 8. We've probably met if you were down in Adelaide during the installation.

The area is due east of Kalgoorlie, Lake Yindarlgooda to be precise. It's station country and reasonably flat. We had about 80mm in a short amount of time and, with no where particular to go, the water will flood the tracks and those little ruts in the ground that we refer to as creeks over here. I normally create little scenarios so the guys have to perform recoveries but mother nature intervened and created real issues to recover from.
