  • Gangsters & Dolls Wedding

Hey everyone, thought I'd post some photos of my Wedding from yesterday...

I would have let everyone know that I was getting married - but it was a surprise wedding and everybody was actually invited to my 30th birthday party.
Yes, that also means that I have turned the big 3-0!!! The night went well and fun was had by all that attended...

There was lots of guns and suits, the girls were all dressed to the Ts!!! Beer flowing and excellent food...
Enjoy the snaps - I have lots and lots (thousands) here are a very select few - by no means the best but will give you an idea of how it all went...

Some of the Many Guests, all in costume...

My Son Harry and Me before as the Ceremony Started...

    My Beautiful Wife to Be!!!!!

Harry playing the part of Toughguy!!!

    The Certificate Signing...

The new couple, happily married... My new wife and I...

The new wife and I are very happy, things are good and today has been a very very relaxing day with just a few friends and family over for more drinking.

    Cheers Matt.

Yeah, I shouldn't ever forget the anniversary!!!

Most of the guests knew that I was up to something, when I had the coordinator call an evactuation of the building and take everyone to the 'muster point', cos i'm a man that loves playing tricks and getting up to mischief... But it was a very well planned surprise and the secret was well kept... Only a very select few (bridesmaids and groomsmen) were privy to to plan!!!

          Not even the parents knew!!!

Thanks for all the congratulations guys, we are very happy!!!

Good one Matt. Congratulations on the wedding and commiserations on leaving your 20s behind.

For my 30th my son was born so we share the same birthday. A great reminder and my wedding day is my Dad's birthday so again I can't forget that.

Sorry Jase but i dont think you have thought this through very well, if you forget one then you forget both ops: i cant even begin to think how bad life would be after that.

                      Re: Gangsters & Dolls Wedding

Fellas, I need to put this question out to you for your responses and thoughts...

Background - invites for my birthday party were sent out, a very formal affair, dressup, special occasion, early start - to all important people, including step sisters, sisters, brother, parents, grandparents, friends and family... A large number of my family did not receive invites (due to finacial restrictions)...

A few of the wife's family have made no secret over the last 6 years of how much they hate me (for varying reasons - none of which I completely understand) and as such due to the nature of the invite (my birthday) have either flatly refused to attend, or made alternative arrangements for the same night, and also made no secret of the fact. The wife begged and pleaded with some - offering to pay for flights from perth, relaxing the no kids request and including kids meals at the reception for others.

Now, we face a backlash from these people, that they should have been told the surprise as OBVIOUSLY the bridal party knew, so they should have known also!!! Saying that if they had been told - they would have attended the wedding... But didn't want to attend my 30th Birthday!!!! However, the only persons involved in the secret were bridesmaids, groomsmen, wedding coordinator and photographer...

NONE of the parents knew or did any of the other guests...

Our secret was very tighly kept, some of those in the know having to be threatened with injury... The whole affair was planned in under 3-1/2 months, two members of the bridal party not knowing until the very last minute...

Did we make a mistake by not informing those that refused to attend that it was a wedding?
Or was the decision to maintain the secret regardless, the right thing to do?

My wife is very distraught about all the nasty things being said about her (and especially me) in emails and on facebook by these select people!!!!

It's sad that a great wedding idea has turned a bit sour by some people's small minds. Regardless of some people's views ... it was your day, and it was up to you and your good wife to do it the way YOU wanted.
Do'nt let it spoil your memories of a great day.
                        Best wishes.

Thanks Bazza, the missus feels a little better now, she has had a chat with her mum and her uncle (who lives in Cairns - and unfortunately couldn't make it)...
They both support her to the fullest...

                          Your kind made her smile!!!!

That's a tough position there Matt. I guess you could look at it from the point that the guests where invited to attend your 30th even though they were unlikley to attend so they have a right to fell betrayed but at the same time they have a dislike for you that they have been quite open about so did you really want them at your wedding?

I don't really want to provide any advise. As long as both you and Loz enjoyed the Wedding and are both looking forward to the life ahead of you, along with Harry's involvement, then that's all that matters.

You did what was right for you./...... its your day (as previously said)... It looked sensational.

Friends of mine recently dissapeared overseas and arrived back married (they had similar reasons).... much to everyones surprise..... They then held an informal get together for those that wanted to celebrate with them..... maybe that would address those that felt they missed out. You would know who was serious about wanting to be part of it, verses those that just want to have a winge.....

Good on you....enjoy, and don't let it distract from the second best day of your life. (from someone who just celebrated 25years of marriage.... )
