The lack of modifications that I can afford, but I'm going to show her indoors the pics of all the stuck Prados to try and squeeze a winch into the budget. The 06 GX Ltd is a good bus, got the aftermarket cruise so I don't have that problem, would have liked the bluetooth feature in the stereo of the upgraded model, but that's nit-picking, and I reckon if you are nit-picking then the rest of your car must be okay.
Although there is one thing, I rarely get to drive it, 'cos her indoors has it all the time!
Wherever you go..there you are, it's just more comfortable getting there in the Prado....

Gosh!! You must have HUGE hands if you keep releasing the wrong one. Either that or no sense of direction :P
It's a case of bad sense of direction I guess. But I find it odd that the easier of the two to get at is the bonnet release. However, it's probably a good thing 'cos today when I got the wrong one again when filling up, I saw my engine etc and realized how filthy thing is after the last 4WD trip - cleaned everything else and didn't get back to under the bonnet...then totally forgot about it. I assume they're both in the same position on the higher speced models??

            Hi Gang,
I know this has been covered before, but the bloody rear door is a hazard on anything but flat level ground with low wind velocities. When you have a keen Labrador wanting to jump out or in for that matter things get a bit out of control when the door wants to close on your elbow before you have time to latch the locking bar. Its great the under-slung spare gets moved to the rear door, which is a good thing, but Toyota need to do some homework and make a kamar style tyre mounting arrangement attached to the chassis or use a double door design alla the old Troopies and the Nissan Patrols. I know this would require additional strengthening in the rear end of the coach, but its got to be better than what we have at present.
Hope a Toyota rep reads this and digests

At what speeds were you achieving these figures? Or is this just the average of normal driving?
This is probably taking this thread way off topic so I will say that my long distance driving is done at 110 km/hr where possible.

Now back to my biggest bugbear with the Prado and that is the ridiculous cruise control which drives me nuts. I know it is working as specified but it is just plain stupid to have the memory cleared below 40 km/hr.

The other thing is the drink holders are crap. How hard is it to come up with a drink holder that can hold a can of drink or bottle securely so it doesn't wobble about or tip over when braking or cornering. I have doctored mine with some cut up stubby cooler material which does the job. How about making a set of drink holders that can keep the drink either cold or hot by using a switch like the small portable drink coolers? Maybe even plumb an aircon duct into the holder space so that cold air is directed onto the drinks.
Okay I just found Toyota documentation that states that the Cruise Control anomally of losing its set speed from memory when the speed drops below the lowest allowable limit is supposed to have been fixed. Obviously this is not the case.

Yep I'm with Mav the cruise control not keeping the set speed if you have to slow below 40kph is the most annoying thing........
My other car even remembers the speed after being switched off........just turn onto the highway and at 40kph hit resume and away you go...

I'm sure there are things not to like about the prado, but at the moment I'm driving a loaner BA Falcon wagon. I truly hope it does not rain this week :!: This car is plenty scary in the dry

Well today on my way to work I realised something that a really dont like about my prado, and I am sure the other female PP'ers will understand.

I dont like that when I wear my favourite boots which are rather high, I cant push the clutch down all the way to the floor, so I have trouble getting it into gear because my high heel gets in the way. It would be much easier if the clutch peddle was at least another inch off the floor!!

It never bothers me, But the Kids ( who are rarley seen in the car with mum & dad these days) have complained about the seat belts in the middle set of seats, they seem to lock and are hard to release, It happens on the bitumen aswell but mostly off road. This has been on alll 3 prados I have had over the past 10 years. I have not found much more to complain about with them..... Prados I mean.
