I don't like the fact that the tyre spec plate on the body states 265/65/17 and not 265/65/17 to 265/70/17 - that would give me a lot more piece of mind when considering what rubber to put on. I know most people seem to just put the 70s on regardless but frankly I think that either Toyota are playing it too cautiously or they genuinely don't consider the Prado can safely run anything apart from Highway tread :x either way if I put 265/70/17s on then technically my car is 'unroadworthy' according to NSW RTA (unless I get an engineers cert) and 'uninsured' when it suits my insurance company and that's not a risk I want to run.

I think I'm average height (5'10") and average weight (for a Prado owner - 90Kgs ), but I find it a bit hard to get easily into the Driver's seat. I know I can raise the steering wheel but then I can't see the instruments and I don't want to adjust the wheel everytime I get in. Maybe I should "grease up" before I get in . (Actually, I love my rig).

OK so I am having trouble understanding why the fuel tank set up couldn't be normal, like the 100 series and HJ75's etc.. They have 2 gauges, or a button that flicks over to the second tank.. I hate that my fuel gauge does down half way, then back up to full, but on the second tank.. I don't like it at all! :x

Other than that, I reckon the cruise control is great, works really well..

Sorry haven't read all 8 pages but I get a little annoyed that there is no mute button on the steering wheel and you can't "flash" the wipers only turn them on or off if it is slightly drizzeling. Even my '05 RA Rodeo and our old '02 VX Commodre could do this. I also don't like the fact that I don't get to drive it but I get to wash it

Simple, have an engineer do a new compliance plate. Thats what I am doing so it lists both tyre sizes. Cost about $350-400.

Don't want to take this off thead too much but I'd be interested to hear how that goes and how you chose someone and how you squared it off with the RTA etc. I've talked at length with the RTA and it didn't sound simple to me I haven't heard of anyone who's actually done this and I think many would find it interesting to hear from someone who's done this.

I hate the Prado's crappy front seats, probably the most uncomfortable seats I've had in any of my cars.

Right on mate. The Mute button (lack of) and 'wiper flash' really annoy me that they are missing too

I'm really happy with my 2008 GXL Prado 120... but for the clutch.
Could be just my beast, but the gear box almost every time it's cold, will grind going into 2nd... once.
Only does it going from 1st to 2nd & not every time, but only when it's cold.
Did have the clutch replace under warranty @ its 10000km service. Dealer found it was 'spotted'.
Only took a week to replace - 6 days to get the new clutch in from Alice Springs to Sydney - it was the only one in Oz at the time, then a day to fit it.... just after I got back from Central Oz!
Comment from the Dealer was 'it's a mongrel to adjust as it is a hydraulic pull adjustment. Where as most other hydraulic clutches are push adjustment.'

The cruise control on the 6 speed manual does over run a bit on up hill runs in 6th. Set @ 112 & it will run up to 118 as it peaks the hill.

The speedo is now accurate (+/-1%) after fitting 265/70R17 Coopers ST - tested by GPS on several occasions on long flat roads.
Coopers claim they add 3% to the rolling diameter over the standard 65 series tyres.
Had to fit spacers to the spare wheel mount bolts to hold the Coopers on the back door - or rather off the back door.

I have to agree withe Jeepster, I find I spend the first hour of driving constantly adjusting them to try and get comfortable.
Even the bench seat in my BT50 is better.

I would have to say the model name is a bit misleading - Landcruiser Prado.
Is it a Landcruiser or Prado, can't be both. And its definetly not a Landcruiser, this model already exists.
Ground Clearance is my biggest problem - I realise it can be fixed somewhat with aftermarket gear.
But when I had my 05 Hilux, I thought it was low enough. The rear end of Prado is lower again and has caused me a little trouble in the past.
The side steps are way too flimsy. It doesn't take much to bend them.
Apart from these, i'm happy with everything else.

I absolutely luv the 180lts of onboard fuel. Largest out of all major 4WD's as a standard feature. Larger than even Landcruiser or Patrol.
Means I only have to fill with Diesel once every 3-4weeks.

                          regards

I have a 2005 Auto and the gate on the gear lever drives me nuts . Left , right , backwards ,forwards a REAL PAIN I reckon . If and when you get stuck try rocking the car backwards and forwards going from drive to reverse and back quick , no way in the world . ( I had a 90 series with the normal gear lever )
