Especially with the power of the V6 that change from 1st L to 2nd L can be a doozy.

There is more positive than negatives but here a few to think about.

1. IFS could be improved, similar to the Hilux.(possible to do a 4"lift)

2. Mud flaps on rear rip off to easy, So does the bumper.

3. Key is easy to break in ignition. Replacement Key over $300

4. 5000 km service on the diesel.Pre D4D

5. Aircondtioning in rear seats doesn’t exist on earlier models.

6. To many white ones on the road. :wink:

7. Reversing vision is very poor.

But still a bloody good large car.
It would have to be the best looking 4wd on the road.

Things I hate

1. The handling

2. The Aircon in the rear is very poor

3. First to second gear in the v6 6 speed manual

4. The soft / easy to damage panels in the car (the silver coloured stuff around the gear shift , on the doors and dash)

5. fuel usage


But a great car for luging the kids and all the other crap/stuff kids/wife have around the county side.

Another small gripe is the cup holders in the front, they are two big for cans and bottles to be held securely and the lever thing in the middle is useless. I am trying to source an insert to do a better job, I don't know how many times I have had a can or bottle flop forward on braking and spill the drink onto the centre console around the shift lever.

I've struggled to find stuff I don't like about the Goatmobile. It's a Middle East spec machine, so this list doesn't apply to everyone.

The heater and radio controls are back-lit in pale green with black LCD symbols, yet the trip computer and compass are white fluorescent symbols on a blue background. It might have been nice to have the same display standard throughout.

There's no means to adjust headlamp aim from inside the cabin.

Xenon headlights would be nice.

The locking diff option is not available, even though both the Fortuner and FJ Cruiser imported in the UAE have them. The LSD is no proper substitute.

hate how it scrubs out front left tyre all the time on the outsid, rotate tyres every 5000km, wheel alignment is good but still scrubs, its giving me the s$%#@

As I have had mine for only 1 day, my only complaint is the Drivers Seat not having any ajustments. I fine it even stranger when you read the owners manual, it shows a picture of a manual seat with knobs and levers like on my Patrol for various ajustments, but nothing on the basic GXL seat.

My former vehicle was a Nissan Patrol 3.0L ST Wagon and they were comfortable seats, with Height, Tilt, Back and lumber support ajustments.

I may hunt around for a set of second hand VX or Grande Seats from the wreckers.

Its not a complaint but more of a suggestion,on the Grande the centre consul has a seconed lever that extends the armrest which i dont use and cant see using.
Instead why didnt they do the same as the 100 series and make a small comartment to store coins,cards and the like.
As for the rest of the car i love it to bits.

well Stu , while toyota continue to send them to Oz with grand craps fitted , you have a better chance of finding them in the wreckers

I know this isn't the right forum, but as a follow on question - Does anyone know if you can fit the Powered Leather Seats from the VX or Grande's into the GXL??

Is the power plug fitted on the GXL model???

what i dont like about my rig is having to leave it in the garage for 2 weeks while i drive troop carriers in the highlands of png..

sure is nice and smooth to get back in once im back home . a real appreciation factor. :lol:

After a bit over 4000ks, only complaints are the common ones: Cruise on the hills (even relatively minor ones) and the lack of adjustment in the seats. Seats are very inferior to Patrol and Pajero! I'm really surprised that Toyota have not dealt with such simple yet pervasive issues - at least the seats ... maybe the cruise is too complicated for the engineers :lol:
