Could only see a male driver in the vehicle, and as I drove beside the vehicle, a girl's head popped up from the driver's lap. She was giving him a head job while he was driving at 110kph. (nothing wrong with that, but he should have stopped in the emergency lane  )

We had a bloke here in loxton roll his car when he momentarily lost concentration in the same situation as above. He had a lot of explaining to do, especially to his wife who wasn't in the car at the time. ops:

until my handsfree not only cuts out the sound but also freezes the picture of my DVD i wont use the phone whilst driving.

In my last corporate job back in 03 with big oil we were not allowed to use the phone at all in the car unless stopped. supposedly it was just as bad as being twice the legal grog limit.

Gotta love big companies. The powers that be in our little section of bhp won't let us even walk while talking on the phone. All these people standing in the middle of the road talking on their phone. And we have to chock the wheels as soon as we park up the ute. Even on flat. All to protect the stooges that haven't worked out how a handbrake works!!

                Gday guys.

"Warning" This "IS" horrific and maybe a mobile phone could have been the culprit as appose to a sleepy driver or being distracted..... Maybe he power steered whilst trying to overtake?

What ever the circumstances was the end result was a fatality and clearly horrific for the onlookers and especially the truck driver.

I think having an on board Surveillance camera to vehicles can be a good if on the road every day for situations like the link below or catching hoon drivers on film.. hence why truckies now fit them for proof when drongo's take-up truckies and trailer's braking distances and ass-end cars but that is an another story.

"Again" this is a distressing video and because of this car having a Surveillance camera fitted it would have made this incident an open & shut case as far as not blaming the truckie or the other vehicles that was involved.

What about the truckie caught watching a DVD with a TV screen bolted onto his dash? An aquaintance of mine was driving his work patrool whilst watching a DVD with his passenger. They were driving out past Balladinia when a turkey hit with such force that the bull bar was pushed through into the left side headlight and also bent the bonnet. He never saw it coming.

I would fully support a a special Zero blood alcohol limit for 5 years and breath testing gadget for anybody convicted of any drink driving offence. Third offence is automatic jail for 6 months which is very leniant compared to many European countries, mandatory psycology evaluation especially for 2nd offence or more...it has to be more than stupidity as to why they do it

                          Gday Davros

That video sort of upset me as i kept thinking about all of who was involved in that accident that only took a matter of seconds and destroyed lives instantly for ever!

At the moment the car swerved was he or she distracted by a phone call? by a txt? Arguing with passenger? Did they drop the phone and was trying to pick it up?..... Only an investigation into the phone records can rule the phone out.

I think there should be zero tolerance with mobile phones in cars. EG: only use of phone via Bluetooth pairing devices and radio's fitted with speed dial for out going calls but NO contact with a "mobile phone" whilst behind the wheel! No sitting the phone on your lap on load speaker, No glancing at txt or replying.

If the pairing device cant pick-up call (Bluetooth radio/hands free car kit) or end the call automatically then make it illegal....

We all see people every day with the mobile phone in there hand whilst driving and i guess that's why there may be a law to protect us from us.

You break the speed limit, run a red light, drink drive you get a fine or loss of license!!! What the problem? the law was put there to discourage stupidity and to protect the innocent from stupidity and our selves of course!

Can you tell this whole mobile phone thing winds me up and i cant hack an excuse for an excuse!! Lol

                          Cheers

I showed this to my learner driver daughter last night, she went white, she was horrified. This is good for me as a parent. But those families, including thre drive of the semi that hit them, have to live with this forever...

I sit at a bus stop waiting for my middle child ( in every sense of the phrase) to get off the bus every afternoon. One in three cars that comes by while I am waiting, has the driver with a phone up to their ear, or is looking at the steering wheel (read SMS on telephone).

These rules need to be more heavily enforced across the board, it has been proven that even talking via Bluetooth hands free is distracting enough, let alone typing an SMS....

Sir Alexander Issigonis, the guy who designed the mini didn't include a radio in the original design as he considered them too distracting to the driver - to quote him “I have never had a car radio; I like concentrating on the job of driving. I never smoke when I drive either.” It is also reported that he didn't allow passengers to talk when he was driving either (for the same reason). He is quoted as saying "The Chinese in their wisdom, I’m told, have a law: it’s illegal to speak to a driver.”
