I have to say I have never seen more cars swerving over the lanes as I have in the last year due to texting drivers...I think actually talking on the phone is ten times safer than texting. I had a P Plate girl pass me at about 120kph on the freeway on friday Texting when she passed me she was touching the line reflectors in the middle of the road.2010 Kakadu with all the usual stuff.... Think I heard on the radio a couple of weeks ago, don't know how true it is: that Congress in America has asked the car manufacturers if there can be some way to block all phone communication into and out of cars to make them safer. Has this been stated in this discussion and did anyone else hear that??
Don't think I was dreaming..
Just tried to Google this but couldn't find it but did find that some American car hire companies have blockers in their cars so there are fewer accidents with their cars and also Congress wants to block cell phones without identified Prepaid SIM cards..

Having the law is one thing, but how is it going to be enforced - the number of people you see talking/texting etc when driving would suggest that the police aren't visibly enforcing the current laws so how is a new one going to help.
What annoys me is when they drop the speed limit in an area after accidents where "speed was a factor" if three different drivers have accidents in a 50 while doing 60,70,80 how does droping the limit to 40 help. They were all exceeding the original speed limit while will a lower one stop them.Big Dog

Hi Guys
There is allot of mobile phone blockers whilst driving out there but i reckon this one is getting the wright idea as it only blocks the drivers phone only..
I am sure some would throw the phone on the back seat so that it would work again but it would rule out TXT'ing and at least it doesn't block everyone else's phone who is sitting in the car with you.
