Disposal of old oil.

With so many members here doing the 5000km oil changes on their diesels and I am about to start doing it too, how is everyone disposing of the old oil? I see from one post that SuperCheap will take it for free. Is that true and in what sort of container do they require the oil: will the 5litre plastic container that the oil was bought in do to return it to them? Are there any other businesses taking the oil?

Check with you local council, our tip takes oil & batterys at no cost.
As for the containers, I got some empty 20L oil drums off a local plant mechanic. The tip should take it in any oil container.

I put it in my old REGA sprayer and spray it on the lantana on the farm, kills it dead, cheaper than roundup.

Bunya dump in Moreton Bay region has a large tank for used oil to be poured into and recycled. You can keep your old containers. I would expect all the larger dumps/facilities would be the same though you may have to pay for the priviledge depending on your council rules.

i have a business at Mt Ommaney and one at Springwood, if your close to either feel free to pm me and you can drop it off.... that goes to anyone in brisbane.

The oil is collected from my workshops and recycled as are my oil filters so feel free to drop them off as well.

In Victoria old sump oil is filtered, canned and sold as VB.

And the old filters are then sent to SAB
