while the arb is a good compressor ( i have 1) it takes about 2min to go from 15psi to 40 psi on an 265/70/17 tyre, there are plenty of other brands out there, tjm, bush ranger bluetounge to name a few, a decent compressor starts at about $200 and can go up to $500, main thing to look at is the litres per minute flow, the hight the rate the quicker the inflate time, but be aware of some of the ebay jobs, you get what you pay for. cheers samo
had an 03 gx 120 with some gear now got a 2013 bt 50 GT auto some ARB gear.

Not having a dual battery yet shouldn't be a problem for running an air compressor. As samo suggests, look for a good flow rate but expect to spend around $200 to $350 for something that does the job well.
Another reasonable performer from memory was the Bushranger model.
You may also want to think about whether to go for portable unit or a fixed one by mounting it under the bonnet etc.

Moreton Island is a top spot, in some ways I do prefer it over Fraser Island as its smaller and quicker to get round.
I also found that the sand there seems a bit softer to drive on than most other coastal spots in SouthEast Qld as comparison.

Have a good one, good luck on the compressor.

      cheers

Try and get a pump that puts out at least 72 liters per minute or more otherwise you will be waiting ages for it to finish.
If you are worried about the huge draw on your battery with a large pump you can always leave the engine running for those few minutes you are pumping the tyres up like a few people I know, then no need for a second battery.

That's what I do with my ARB compressor. It only takes a few minutes to re-inflate, so I'm not worried about the engine idling for that time (no worse than peak hour traffic). ;-)
