  • Sunshine Coast to Cape Tribulation

Just got home late this afternoon, 17 days away. We were based at South Mission Beach (south of Cairns).

Drove the coast going up, inland from Mackay coming home, did 4,995 klms and used 539 lltrs of diesel (10.8 l/100k) which is not bad for the 1KZ 4 spd auto. We were well loaded with the 2 kids and poly pipe on the roof racks with fishing rods. I can see an extra 1/2 ltr per 100k while the poly pipe was on the roof. The consumption hardly changed between 10.5 and 11 the entire trip.

We did Tully Gorge, Atherton Tablelands, Daintree, Cape Trib and part of the Bloomfield Track to Cooktown.

The Prado is filthy, but what a great way to travel. We haven't been that far north for about 8 years and can't wait for the next trip further north.

My kids always want to get up on the roof racks but the wife doesn't think it is safe

Sounds like a great trip Fox. Love to see some pics from the trip if you've got some.
      Cheers, Leon

Yes, no trip report is complete without pictures.

Holidays dont last long enough do they. But at least you can start planning the next one.

Reminds me of my safari in Africa. Somebody forgot the corkscrew and for several days we had to live on nothing but food and water.

Just re-read my post, kids didn't travel on the roof racks with the fishing gear (not a bad idea though)!!

I will see how I go with posting photo's.
