Re: good cheap spot to camp with in 2 hours or less of geelong
Chances are, anything good and cheap within a 4-5 hour drive of the major cities will be packed during easter. Australians are becoming more "outdoorsy", especially with the boom of the city slicker friendly camper trailers and alike. Head to the Murray, there's always a place to camp... oh and its free :!:Originally posted by Wazza1978Hey guys just as the heading saysd looking for a good cheap spot to camp over easter . Re: good cheap spot to camp with in 2 hours or less of geelong
That's where common sense comes into play. A few things I take into account before setting up camp are:Originally posted by Wazza1978good point , just not a fan of camping under those bloody big trees that like to drop branches
1: Where are the tree branches? Look up at your surroundings. You'd be surprised at how far a short looking branch can fall.
2: What angle are the branches coming out from? This will determine where they will fall in the event that they do.
3: Is the tree dead or alive? Dead trees are more likely to fall than live ones. A tell tale sign of live trees are green leaves.
If you can't find a shady place to camp, erect a tarp or awning. Don't let a few trees stop you from enjoying Australia's backyard. Just play it safe and you'll be fine.
