    NSW: Sunday May 22 Newnes State Forest

    We'll go to Newnes state forest on Sunday, may check out some tracks we haven't been on before Should be fairly easy going.

    Meeting at: McDonalds at Richmond, cnr of March & Eastmarket Sts. at 8:00am, departing around 8:15 am http://maps.google.com.au/maps?hl=en&bi ... CBoQnwIwAA

    Finishing time is flexible; if you want to leave early it won't be a problem. Usually we go till around 4 or     5pm.

    Bring: Prado, morning tea, lunch, water/drinks, camera, air compressor/recovery gear if you have it, sense of adventure

    UHF channel 28 This is to avoid the interference from the mines in the area who use ch.16

        Well I made a last minute decision to join Glenn and Mike for todays trip. We had a good day, we stayed over in the eastern section of Newnes SF all day and had a look at a few new tracks, which featured some good 4WDing, even if some of the tracks were a little overgrown! To top it off the weather behaved itself most of the day, apart from a light shower on the way back to ZigZag it was warm(ish) and sunny throughout the day.

        Should have some pics to upload tomorrow, and Glenn got some video.

          Yes a good day & the weather did behave itself

          And yes some of the tracks we traversed were a little overgrown, had to put on my Don Burke hat & take to the foliage with the gardening implements a couple of times

            Another great day out at out favourite forest, we spent the day in the Waratah Ridge area & explored some new tracks.

                          Actually it was Jeff who had his machete with him but it was no match for my heavy duty branch cutter

                          Shame Declan wasn't with us today; he would have had a good time with the chainsaw

                            Unfortunately all that Newnes hard wood from previous trips has blunted the chain real bad and it needs replacing now.
