I've recently been forced to take some holidays so i was looking at doing a bit of a 4by trip to bendethera and was just wondering if anybody could tell me how hard the track to get there is. I've read there is 3 different ways to get there so not sure which way to go. Sorry if its been covered already but i tried searching for it but the search isn't working.

First off, I haven't been there myself, but there's heaps of info on the web if you do a google search.
There's basically 3 ways in:
1) East, the easy way from Moruya, see first part of this trek: http://www.4x4earth.com.au/tracks.ht...ark&map=street
2) West, medium grade from Canberra: http://www.4x4earth.com.au/tracks.ht...at-&map=street
3) North, mediam grade from Araluen: http://www.4x4earth.com.au/tracks.ht...era&map=street
They're all fine in dry wether and all have river crossings (check depth). With lots of rain they can all become a difficult grade with mud and winching. I hear the trek from Araluen is the steepest, the most treachous if wet, and not suitable for trailers due to some tight corners.glen_ep - engineered, 4" lift, 33" 255/85R16, lockers, 4.88 ratios www.pradopoint.com.au/showthread.php?17237 www.youtube.com/user/glenep www.fb.com/groups/ToyotaPrado90

hey firey i did a quick search but couldnt find the recent info on it . i did bendethra a few months back before they apparently had big loads of rain . at that point the roads had all been graded and was an easy but extremely steep drive . we went in from araluen on the merricumbene firetrail this is the most difficult . im not sure if id want to tackle this if its had recent rain youll need a winch and a lot of time. its a great spot and a great adventure , spectacular scenery .i didn't have a snorkel at the time and the creeks didn't pose a problem . you'll love it , i wanna go back there . there are long drop dunny's in the main camp areas and fire pits with hotplates . if you like a good fire and you will definitely need it , it would be prudent to collect some logs along the way. you will find warnings about rove beetles in the area .we didnt see any , but this didn't stop us jumping out of our skins every time a bug came near us . i think the warnings and the grading of the tracks was probably done by national parks to keep some of the redneck fools out of the place . we went midweek and had the place entirely to ourselves .03 grande v6 , with added stuff that makes it go places . RTFM people !

oh yeah , google bendethra valley ,wear good tyres . when you google it you will see one post that refers to a gay camping weekend that happened a couple of years ago . the person in our group failed to tell us this happened years before . some of us thought it was due to be the day after we were there. it provided much fodder for sledging and amusement for the entire trip ." not that theres anything wrong with that ."Last edited by kav; 30-05-2011, 10:12 AM.03 grande v6 , with added stuff that makes it go places . Yeh! wife n I were down there two weeks ago,Tracks are fine in the dry,We went in via Dry Creek crossing and Merakimbeen FT,,Deua River at D C crossing is looking great with fresh clear water runing through it,last time we were there it was dry as.Very frosty in the vally,Dish water had about 5mm thick ice in the mornings,BRRRRR! but we had suny warm days.
We drove out through Mt Dampier FT and made it a round trip, 5 days away made it a nice cruesy trip.We realy enjoid it. Hope that you do to,just watch out for wet weather, some very steep clay.
Oh yeh! by the way if towing, the Merakimbeen and Mt Dampier FT's are now a no go for trailers,,By order NP's.

Well the weekend has come and gone.Weather was absolutely awesome and the views just as good (although fog covered the top of the mountans most of sundays trip).Felt sorry for a fellow prado owner who happened to have his mates vitara started motor fail..Damn autos.
Then to add insult to injury his 90 series decided to relieve itself of the main engine pulley from the crankshaft leaving 2 dead cars to pull out of the valley..
Cant wait to get back there...
