  • Turon River

    Hi All,

Planning a trip this weekend out to the Turon River. Starting off at Sunny Corner heading to Sofala via Palmers Oakey. Hopefully the rain backs off a bit so the kids can enjoy a bit of fishing.

Has anyone been up there recently and can offer any info on the track conditions and river crossings?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

    Matt

Last time I was there in March, the Turon river was nothing scary. Maybe just above the hubs at worst. Track conditions were pretty good too.

Thanks Williade, I read in the trip report from March that one of the main tracks was closed. Do you know which one this was?

Just went to Hill End last weekend. I think the main track your talking about is the Bridle Track. Still blocked but It is open from Hill End to Monaghan's Bluff where there is an area to U-Turn and come back. River was flowing but did not come past the rubber on the tyres. I believe Bathurst side to Monaghan's Bluff is longer than from Hill End and you can see the landslide from there. However it was not raining when I was there.

Did a little bit of mud bashing in the lower sections and steep inclines as well. Main track was mainly dry but not loose. Had a few ruts with water in but could pass on the higher edges. Watch out for the cattle on the track around the blind corners.

        Was a good weekend trip!

While the Bridle Track is closed it is a different road that was referred to as being closed in the Turon National Park. The National Parks website is still showing the Turon River Trail as being closed downstream of Diggings Camp area.
