Is the border track open this weekend? Is anyone heading there from PP?

Hi Mass
The Border Track is generally open outside of fire danger season.
We are heading to Pinnaroo for the weekend may venture south, will keep an Eye out for ya.

Only times it's closed is from November till about 31st March or when ever the official end of fire season occurs. Plus on top of that they close the park down for blocks of about 5 days for vermin eradication. For that I assume they send in a group with rifles so don't want the general public involved.

The following link is to the SA Environment Parks Closure page. This will show you if the park is to be closed for antthing other than the standard fire saeason closures:

At the time of posting Ngarkat was not listed in the closures.

It's also worth noting that the 'whole' track isn't closed through fire season, only the stretch from scorpion springs to Center Track. You only miss 2 big dunes. There's more fun to be had south of center track. Having said that, I think Ngarkat would be a pretty unforgiving place in the heat of summer, regardless of where you are on the track!

Hey Troy, I recon i may have seen you at the border track I was with Matt. I hit the dreaded stump and lost my wheel =(. Some swift bush mechanic work got us back in action, thankfully, my poor car is in the crash shop as we speak......Great weekend apart from the mishap......Must watch the road more carefully. Thanks Schaffer and iantz for that info.

Ok, We were at the border track on the June long weekend. We were cruising along having a great time, Next minute BANG! My wheel caught the edge of a stump which inturn sheared 4 bolts of the lower control arm, popped the upper ball joint and the CV and ripped my brake lines. Ripped off front flare trashed the front Qtr panel and bent my sunraysia =(. I was hoping it was just a bad dream. Straight away i was thinking How the hell am I going to get this out of here? Trailer? Helicopter? Haha. We stepped back and had a little look started cleaning all the sand off of everything. My mate had 2 bolts in his toolbox which thankfully fitted and with the help of a few ratchet straps we got the ball joint back in and used them to keep it in there aswell. The hardest thing was trying to clamp the brake line, We ended up taking off the line filling it with Araldite and putting a screw in the end which finally stopped the fluid. Will have to upload some pics to explain it a bit better. Cant wait to get the bus back and finally install the lift =)

Sheet Mass ya got to hate those bloody stumps.
Hit one traveling to the Red Bluff on the Honda, only pinched the front tube but had a ute to load it up in.
How did you get the Bus back home?
